The Crimson Tide were eliminated by San Diego State, 71-64, in a South Regional game.
The Aztecs used shot-blocking and defense to stifle Alabama, which was 3 of 27 from behind the arc.
Controversial Crimson Tide freshman Brandon Miller had an atrocious game, shooting 3 of 19 overall and 1 of 10 from 3-point range.
San Diego State led at the half by five points, but fell behind 48-39 before turning the game around with a 12-0 run.
The Aztecs never trailed again. They will face Creighton on Sunday in the Elite Eight.
Meanwhile, Miami, which is a five seed, completely handled Houston 89-76.
The Hurricanes trailed their top-seeded Midwest opponent once in the entire game, at 23-22.
Miami was ahead 42-36 at the half and broke the game open with an 11-0 run over four minutes of the second half to go up 70-53.
