NC State Surprised in March Madness Betting on Way to Final Four

NC State is the lone double-digit seed to make the NCAA tournament. The Wolfpack are not a traditional Cinderella given the team’s history and their presence in the ACC.
Yet, the pathway to the Final Four may be even more challenging than the typical sleeper team. NC State needed to win the ACC tournament just to punch their ticket to the Big Dance as an 11-seed.

NC State Beat Texas Tech, Duke and Marquette En Route to Final Four
NC State’s opening-round victory No. 6 Texas Tech was one of the team’s more impressive wins. The Red Raiders played in a deep Big 12 conference with the talent to potentially make a long tournament run.
Instead, the Wolfpack continued their hot streak from the ACC tournament. NC State cruised to a 13-point victory over Texas Tech.
Next, NC State replaced No. 14 Oakland as America’s favorite Cinderella with a 79-73 win. The Wolfpack pulled off an upset with a 67-58 victory versus No. 2 Marquette to advance to the Elite Eight.
NC State faced a rematch with Duke a little more than two weeks after defeating the Blue Devils in the ACC tournament. The same result played out as NC State notched a 12-point win to upset Duke in the NCAA basketball odds for the second time in March.
DJ Burns Has Been a National Treasure
No article about NC State would be complete without discussing big man DJ Burns Jr., who has emerged as one of the top stories of the NCAA tournament. Burns scored a season-high 29 points versus Duke as NC State advanced to the Final Four. The big man is averaging 18.3 points, five rebounds and 3.5 assists per game in March Madness.
