NCAA Basketball Odds: UConn Pick to Win 2024-25 National Title

  • Despite having four starters selected in the NBA Draft, UConn currently has the shortest odds of winning a third straight national title.
  • Top recruit Cooper Flagg and Duke are among three teams at +1000 in the championship odds.
  • Coach Cal’s new team has moved ahead of his former team.
  • Check the latest college basketball championship odds as most of the player movement is over.

The ultimate sign of respect is being shown to the UConn men’s basketball team that the Huskies saw four starters drafted off the team that won the second straight national title and are still listed as the favorite to win it all by the college basketball odds.

There is plenty of love for the Blue Blood programs. There are eight teams ranging from +800 to +2000 in the BetUS NCAA basketball futures odds to win the national title, with five of those programs combining to win 29 championships.

With the NBA Draft in the books and Kansas State forward Arthur Kaluma the only top-75 rated transfer yet to announce where he will play during the 2024-25 season, the rosters of the contenders are pretty much finalized, so don’t expect to see much movement in the championship odds between now and the start of the college basketball season.

Here’s a rundown at how things look as October will be here before you know it.

Eyeing 3-Peat, UConn Tops NCAA Title Odds

Shortly after Stephon Castle and Donovan Clingan made the decision to declare for the NBA Draft, UConn was showing up with the fifth-shortest odds to win the national title. With Alex Karaban opting to return for another season and UConn adding Saint Mary’s guard Aidan Mahaney and Michigan center Tarris Reed, the Huskies now lead the way at +800 in the national championship odds.

UConn added top-10 recruit Liam McNeeley as well as Ahmad Nowell and Isaiah Abraham, giving the Huskies a much different nucleus as they go after a third straight national title.

UConn coach Dan Hurley was courted by the NBA’s Los Angeles Lakers, but he opted to stay in Storrs as he looks to join UCLA’s John Wooden as the only Division I men’s basketball coach to win three consecutive national titles.

Pretty Crowded Field at +1000 in Betting Odds

Alabama, Duke and Kansas are all currently listed by the BetUS sportsbook odds at +1000 to win the national title.

With the way the freshman Cooper Flagg, the top-rated incoming freshman, looked playing against the U.S. Olympic team, it is a little surprising that Duke didn’t at least land as a co-favorite with UConn.

It didn’t help that Kyle Filipowski left for the NBA while Jeremy Roach (Baylor), Mark Mitchell (Missouri), Sean Stewart (Ohio State) and TJ Power (Virginia) all transferred.

Khaman Maluach (currently playing in the Olympics), Isaiah Evans, Kon Knueppel and Patrick Ngonba were all top-20 recruits as Duke has the top incoming class of recruits.

Alabama brought in a top-notch recruiting class led by Derrion Reid, Aiden Sherrell, Labaron Philon and Naas Cunningham. Rutgers center Clifford Omoruyi, Auburn guard Aden Holloway, South Florida guard Chris Youngblood and Pepperdine guard Houston Mallette are also headed to Tuscaloosa.

Once Hunter Dickinson decided to return to Kansas, the Jayhawks figured to be among the top title contenders.

Wisconsin wing AJ Storr, South Dakota State guard Zeke Mayo and Alabama forward Rylen Griffen are among the incoming transfers to watch for Kansas while Flory Bidunga and Rakease Passmore are both top-50 recruits.

Other Betting Contenders to Monitor

North Carolina (+1600), Houston (+1600), Gonzaga (+1800) and Baylor (+2000) aren’t far behind in the college basketball odds.

Baylor’s recruiting class is ranked sixth by the 247sports.com database and North Carolina’s incoming freshman class is ranked 10th.

It is pretty interesting that since John Calipari left Kentucky and landed at Arkansas, the Razorbacks have moved by the Wildcats in the national title odds.

Calipari signed the No. 3-rated recruited class, and that is nothing new, while FAU guard Johnell Davis, Tennessee center Jonas Aidoo, Kentucky forward Adou Thiero and guard DJ Wagner will also play for Coach Cal at Arkansas

Arkansas is at +2500 in the championship odds with Kentucky at +3000.
