Three of the four ranked teams in action on Wednesday came up short so welcome to March Madness.

There are seven SEC teams in the top 20 in the NCAA NET rankings. Those outside the top 20 are among the March Madness bubble teams to keep an eye on.

Auburn (+350) is tied with Duke for the shortest odds of winning March Madness. Florida (+900), Alabama (+1100) and Tennessee (+1400) aren’t far behind in the championship odds.

SEC March Madness Analysis

Crowd of Bubble Teams Include Georgia, Vandy

The SEC schedule makers didn’t make it easy on Ole Miss. After taking down Tennessee in its final home game on Wednesday, Ole Miss heads to Florida for the regular-season finale.

It wasn’t easy but the Rebels found a way to open March with a win over Oklahoma. They are 27th in the NCAA NET rankings despite a 6-8 record in Quad 1 games.

Georgia had lost eight games in a row to ranked teams before stunning a top-5 Florida team at home when listed by the BetUS sportsbook as a 6.5-point underdog. Ten of the 11 losses have come to Quad 1 teams. Georgia is showing up as a No. 11 seed in the ESPN bracketology so there is not much margin for error for the Bulldogs.

Speaking of Bulldogs, Mississippi State is 20-10 and 7-8 in Quad 1 games with five wins over ranked squads, per NCAAB betting trends. A win over Arkansas would boost the at-large hopes for Mississippi State.

A 3-7 record against ranked teams, 5-9 mark in Quad 1 games and taking a 7-10 SEC record into the weekend has Arkansas very much in bubble-team territory.

Since mid-January, Vanderbilt has beaten Tennessee, Kentucky, Ole Miss, Texas A&M and Missouri. Will that be enough for the Commodores to defy the college basketball odds and secure a spot in the NCAA tournament for the first time since the 2016-17 season?

Tennessee, ’Bama, Florida Eyeing High March Madness Seeds

A recent loss to Texas A&M knocked Auburn out of the No. 1 spot in the NCAA NET rankings. However, the SEC still has four of the top six teams with No. 2 Auburn followed by No. 4 Florida, No. 5 Tennessee and No. 6 Alabama.

The Florida vs Alabama showdown did not disappoint with the game landing over the sports betting odds total of 178.5 in the final minute as Florida picked up the key road win.

Saturday’s Alabama vs Auburn matchup will give the NCAA Selection Committee something to ponder. The Crimson Tide will be looking to avenge last month’s 94-85 loss, per Alabama vs Auburn stats. Tennessee and Florida wrap up the regular season with home games.

Auburn is looking good to be a No. 1 seed in the March Madness bracket while Tennessee, Alabama and Florida are also hoping to land on the top line.

Kentucky is just 6-7 outright and against the NCAAB basketball line over its last 13 games and that could impact the March Madness seeding for the Wildcats. Texas A&M helped itself with an impressive win over top-ranked Auburn to return to the top 20 in the NCAA NET rankings.

Texas, Oklahoma NIT-Bound?

It has not been the easiest of debut seasons for Texas and Oklahoma in the SEC. The Longhorns and Sooners are a combined 10-23 in SEC play. Four Quad 2 losses could send Texas to the NIT while Oklahoma is just 5-10 in Quad 1 games as the two teams face each other in Saturday’s regular-season finale.
