Auburn, despite losing to Florida, remained at No. 1 in the AP poll but conference rival Alabama is just nine points back of the Tigers at No. 2. Every first-place vote went to a team from the SEC. Those who bet online will have some intriguing SEC matchups to look at down the stretch in the regular season.

Auburn is tied with Duke at +450 for the shortest odds of winning March Madness. Tennessee is third at +900 in the championship odds followed by Alabama (+1400), Florida (+1800) and Kentucky (+2000).

Auburn (-255) also has the shortest odds of winning the SEC title followed by Alabama (+190).

SEC March Madness Breakdown: Best Bets to Bubble Teams

The Contenders

Not even a loss could knock Auburn out of the top spot in the AP poll and that speaks volumes about the body of work for the Tigers.

Auburn is 12-2 in Quad 1 games. No other men’s Division I team has more than eight Quad 1 victories. The Tigers are also 8-2 against ranked teams so Auburn is the front-runner to be the No. 1 overall seed in the March Madness bracket.

There is a huge game around the corner when top-ranked Auburn plays at Alabama on Saturday. First up is a game at Vanderbilt. Per Auburn vs Vanderbilt stats, the Commodores already have won at home against Tennessee and Kentucky this season.

Those who bet online shouldn’t ignore the fact that Vanderbilt is 9-4 ATS at home this season. The Commodores are +9.5 underdogs for Tuesday night’s game.

Tennessee, Florida and Alabama come in at No. 4, 5 and 6 in the NCAA NET rankings, with each of the losses for all three schools coming in Quad 1 contests.

Texas A&M, No. 13 in the NCAA NET rankings, is 7-5 in Quad 1 games. The Aggies are tied for third in the SEC standings while Kentucky has seen 13 of its 23 games against Quad 1 competition. The Wildcats are 6-2 against ranked teams with five more matchups against top-25 teams by the end of the regular season.

Which SEC Teams are on Bubble Watch?

In another conference, Ole Miss and Missouri might be battling it out for the top spot. Ole Miss is tied for fifth in the SEC while Missouri is in sole possession of seventh place.

Missouri has lost its last two games with the Tigers just 2-4 on the road. Five of the six losses for Ole Miss have come against ranked teams, per NCAAB betting trends.

It might be a reach to classify teams at No. 22 and 23 in the NCAA NET rankings as bubble teams. However, that could happen if they don’t move up in the SEC standings.

Mississippi State, despite a 5-5 record in Quad 1 games, is in the top 30 in the NCAA NET rankings.

Texas, which is 3-7 in Quad 1 games and 12-2 in all other games, is another SEC team to take a look at.

March Madness Odds Against Them

With a 1-5 road record and a 2-8 mark against Quad 1 teams, Georgia comes in at No. 34 in the NCAA NET rankings. The Bulldogs have lost six of their last eight games with five of those losses coming against ranked teams. There is a 13-point win against Kentucky that could help for the Bulldogs when the NCAA selection committee decides what to do with Georgia.

Vanderbilt, the John Calipari-coached Arkansas Razorbacks and Oklahoma come in at No. 42, 43 and 44 in the NCAA NET rankings. They are a combined 9-18 against Quad 1 games – something to keep in mind when making online bets. The next SEC team in the NCAA NET rankings is No. 80 LSU.
