Stretch Runs: LSU, Va. Tech One Step From National Title
No. 1 Seed Hokies to Clash With Tigers in Final Four
The LSU Tigers and Virginia Tech Hokies will look to continue their powerful seasons when they clash Friday in the women’s Final Four.
Both LSU and Virginia Tech have had a lot to be proud after each team reached the semifinals of the NCAA Tournament.

The Hokies, after 2021 marked their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2006, battled their way to the Final Four for the first time in program history, despite some March Madness predictions doubting them as a No. 1 seed.
The Hokies’ tournament run has not been without difficulty either. They knocked off tournament powerhouse Tennessee in the Sweet 16 before making it past an Ohio State team that took out top dog UConn in the Sweet 16 as well.
Virginia Tech did so on the backs of Elizabeth Kitley and Georgia Amoore, who led the team all season and continued to do so in the tournament. Amoore was named the region’s most outstanding player after averaging 24 points and knocking down 20 threes through four games in the tournament/ Kitley has averaged 15.8 points and 12 boards in the NCAAs.

Now, the Hokies will look to continue their historical season with a win over LSU, who have exceeded preseason expectations this season as well.
With head coach Kim Mulkey in her second year with the team and a roster full of transfers, preseason odds didn’t favor the Tigers. College Women’s Basketball lines gave LSU +6000 odds to win College Women’s Basketball.
However, the Tigers defied expectations, losing just two games all season with two transfers leading the way.
Angel Reese, who transferred to LSU, is averaging a double-double in the tournament with 22.3 points and 17.3 rebounds. Alexis Morris is the Tigers’ second-leading scorer, averaging 14.9 points. She joined LSU at the same time as Mulkey after spending time at three previous schools.
The duo will contend with Virginia Tech’s Kitley and Amoore to make for a second exciting Final Four matchup, with NCAA Women’s Basketball odds favoring LSU by two points.
Though LSU is favored, March Madness expert picks are taking the Hokies in the win. Make sure to get your March Madness picks in for the matchup before the game begins at 7 p.m. ET Friday.
