There haven’t been as many Cinderellas as usual in this year’s NCAA Tournament, but one that has been beating the March Madness odds has been the Arkansas Razorbacks, the lowest seed remaining in the Sweet 16. The 10th-seeded Razorbacks try to keep their run going when they square off with the third-seeded Texas Tech Red Raiders in the West Region semifinals on Thursday night.

Arkansas had the biggest upset of the second round, knocking off No. 2 seed St. John’s, and John Calipari’s squad is oozing with confidence right now. Can the Razorbacks pull another surprise or will Texas Tech live up to its seeding? Let’s take a closer look at this game and help you determine what March Madness betting you want to make for Thursday’s showdown.

Arkansas vs Texas Tech Prediction Today March 27

My prediction

As we said before, Arkansas is a very confident crew, but the Red Raiders aren’t lacking in that department either, especially with Big 12 Player of the Year JT Toppin (18.1 points, 9.3 rebounds) on the roster. Toppin has recorded double-doubles in five of his last six games, per NCAA betting tips, so he’ll be a focus for the Razorbacks defensively.

Despite shooting just 2-of-14 from 3-point range, Texas Tech easily defeated Drake in the second round thanks to its defense, which limited the Bulldogs to just 42.6% from the floor. That defense ends up being the difference as the Red Raiders live up to their NCAA basketball odds and move on to the Elite Eight.

Top 3 Arkansas vs Texas Tech Betting Picks

My top picks

1. Arkansas vs Texas ATS Pick: +5.5
2. Arkansas vs Texas Tech O/U Pick: Under 148
3. Arkansas vs Texas Tech best point-scorer bet: Trevon Brazile Over 6.5 Rebounds

My Analysis

Arkansas was able to handle the strong defense of St. John’s in the second round thanks to a group focus on the boards, which included 16 offensive rebounds, with four different players grabbing at least six boards. Forward Trevon Brazile had eight in the win over the Red Storm, which was actually off his recent efforts that included double-digit rebounds in four of his last six outings.

Both teams can put some great pressure on the opposition defensively, so this game will likely come down to which team can avoid turnovers. This will be a lower-scoring contest than the March Madness predictions are forecasting, as both teams try to lock down on the defensive end. An intense battle down to the end is going to see Texas Tech moving on but not covering the spread.

Arkansas vs Texas Tech March Madness Best Point-Scorer Prop

Texas Tech F JT Toppin Over 18 Points (-189)

Toppin has been a constant box-score stuffer all season long and a reliable option in player prop bets. It was the same against Drake in the second round as he finished with 25 points, 12 rebounds and two blocks. Against a very athletic Arkansas squad, Toppin is going to have to work for his points, but he can score from all over the floor, so he’ll be a tough cover.

If Texas Tech is going to advance, it needs another big game from the sophomore, and we expect it will get just that. Make one of your NCAA basketball picks on this game on Toppin going over his points total in a win.
