Back Texas A&M at Ohio State in NCAA Basketball Spreads

Teams will look to continue their undefeated starts to the non-conference season when the No. 15 Texas A&M Aggies visit the Ohio State Buckeyes on Friday. Both teams picked up wins over non-Power Five schools, and while the Aggies dominated in their win, the Buckeyes had to battle one out. However, in spite of this, NCAA basketball odds still predict a close game with Ohio State favored by 1½ points.

The Aggies opened their season with a big win over Texas A&M-Commerce after a solid offensive performance.

Texas A&M scored 78 points on 46.7% shooting from the field to start the season, led by senior Hayden Hefner and preseason SEC Conference Player of the Year Wade Taylor IV. Hefner finished with 19 points while Taylor had 16 in the win.

The Aggies also outrebounded the Lions 47-25, including 16-7 on the offensive glass. They were aided by their bench as well, which scored a collective 29 points in the win.

Texas A&M will get a tougher opponent when it meets Ohio State, so bettors may want to see how its offense starts off before looking at some live betting odds.

Ohio State Starts Slow

The Buckeyes picked up their first victory of the season after winning a tight battle with Oakland.

Though Ohio State’s offense began strong, scoring 79 points and shooting 46.2% from the field, it couldn’t pull away from a lesser opponent. The Buckeyes couldn’t slow down the Golden Grizzlies, who compete in the Horizon League.

The Buckeyes allowed Oakland to score 73 points and shoot 40% from beyond the arc, even getting a seven-point lead at one point, to keep things close throughout the game. The Grizzlies also had 11 offensive boards for 13 second-chance points.

After a rough season-opening performance, Ohio State will need to tighten things up defensively to help keep things close with a solid Aggies offense and be a reliable NCAA basketball pick.

Texas A&M vs Ohio State Best Bet

Though the sportsbook expects the Aggies and Buckeyes to be fairly evenly matched, with NCAA basketball betting lines favoring Ohio State by 1 ½ points, bettors should bet on A&M covering the spread and getting the win.

Ohio State’s defense was less-than-impressive in its first game, and it’s going to have an even tougher time slowing down a solid Texas A&M offense. The Buckeyes also didn’t shoot the ball very well, finishing 28% from beyond the arc, and they’ll need to get a better outside shot to keep up with the Aggies.

Texas A&M also had its way on the offensive boards, where Ohio State struggled to keep Oakland off of in the opener, and the Aggies should find some more second-chance scoring opportunities Friday. Though they’re on the road, the Aggies should have no problem covering the spread.
