1. Baylor: Best Bet at -16

Baylor did not take the path of least resistance in the first two games of the 2024-25 season. After being run off the court by Gonzaga in the season opener, the Bears got a double-double from Miami transfer Norchad Omier to top a ranked Arkansas team in a neutral-site game in Dallas.

The schedule lightens up a bit with the next two games against unranked teams beginning on Tuesday when Baylor faces Sam Houston in its home opener.

The Bears have yet to have Langston Love, the only returning double-digit scorer, available and highly touted freshman VJ Edgecombe was dealing with some bumps and bruises in the Arkansas win. However, when making NCAA basketball picks, going with Baylor as a double-digit favorite is the best way to go.

It hasn’t been the best of starts for Villanova this season. First, leading returning scorer Eric Dixon was suspended by the NCAA for the season opener for taking part in an event in the pre-draft process before opting to return to school. Dixon had 33 points in his season debut but the Wildcats still lost to Columbia. Now, Villanova is fighting to get freshman forward Matthew Hodge cleared to play.

Villanova heads to the Hagan Arena to meet up with Saint Joseph’s in a Big 5 Classic matchup.

Villanova had won 11 games in a row against Saint Joseph’s before falling to the Hawks 78-65 last season when listed by the sports betting odds as a 12-point favorite.

The Hawks are coming off a loss to Central Connecticut and find themselves as the home underdog against Villanova. The Hawks have lost nine of their last 11 games as the underdog at home and Villanova is looking good to take care of business as the 2.5-point favorite. 3. Bet on Texas freshman Tre Johnson in the Player Props

Tre Johnson was rated fifth in ESPN’s Class of 2024 recruiting rankings and yet he still feels a little underrated.

The Texas freshman had 29 points, five 3-pointers, five rebounds, and four assists in his debut against Ohio State. That was followed up with 28 points and five more 3-pointers against Houston Christian.

Texas faces a winless Chicago State game on Tuesday and when looking at NCAAB player props, Johnson is a solid choice to have at least 25 points for the third time in as many collegiate games.
