UCLA Ready To Roll at Home Again
UCLA has had no issues winning at home, beating Sacramento State, Long Beach State, Norfolk State and Pepperdine by an average of 31.8 points per game. The Bruins are favored to remain perfect at home.
Bellarmine opened more than a few eyes with a win over neighboring Louisville in the first game of the season. For a team in its third year during the transition phase from Division II to Division I, it was quite the start.
Bellarmine, a member of the Atlantic Sun, is not eligible for NCAA-sanctioned postseason tournaments until after next season but that hasn’t stopped the 2011 Division II national champions from testing itself with three games against ACC teams so far this year. After meeting UCLA, Bellarmine played at Kentucky.
According to the college basketball playoff odds, UCLA (+1600) is tied for seventh in the odds to win the national title.
After losses to Illinois and Baylor at the Main Event in Las Vegas, UCLA has dropped 10 spots to No. 17 in the Coaches’ poll and 11 positions to No. 19 in the Associated Press Top 25 poll.
UCLA’s Jaime Jaquez (+1500) is tied for fifth in the odds to win the Wooden Award as the national player of the year.

Freshmen Producing For Bellarmine
It was a tough start to the season for the top freshman for Bellarmine as Peter Suder missed all four of his shots in the Knights’ win over Louisville.
It has been a different story since. Suder is averaging 15 points over the last five games and that included games against Duke and Clemson.
Classmate Ben Johnson is averaging 6 points and 2.5 rebounds off the bench.
Even with two freshmen playing key roles, Bellarmine is averaging just 10.3 turnovers per game. Ball security will be crucial in the matchup with UCLA.

Clark Stepping Up
Jaylen Clark wasn’t viewed as the top returning player for UCLA. However, he is starting to draw notice thanks to a strong start to his junior season.
Clark averaged 4.6 points, 3.1 rebounds and 0.6 assists in 13.4 minutes in his first two seasons. This season those numbers have jumped to 15.7 points, 7.7 rebounds and 2.5 assists in 29.5 minutes per game.
With 23 points and 11 rebounds in a loss to Baylor, he has as many double-doubles this season as he did in the last two years combined.
David Singleton, who has gone from putting up 4.8 points to 12.3 points, is another of the returning players who has a much larger role this season to team with Clark and proven producers Jaquez and Tyger Campbell. Freshman Amari Bailey was the top scorer against Pepperdine with 19 points.
