1. Ohio State the Best Bet At -18

Ohio State began the season with a wire-to-wire win against a ranked Texas team at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas with Bruce Thornton leading the way with 20 points, five rebounds, and five assists.

Before playing on the road against No. 13 Texas A&M, Ohio State plays its home opener against Youngstown State. It has been six years since the teams met and in that matchup, the Buckeyes trailed at halftime before pulling away for a 19-point win.

It is hard to get a read on Youngstown State considering that three of the four double-digit scorers in a season-opening win over Chicago State were playing their first game for the Penguins. When making NCAA basketball picks, we’re going with Ohio State to cover as the 18-point favorite.

2. Go With Saint Peters vs Rutgers Clash to Go Over 131

Much of the focus as Rutgers began the regular season was on a highly regarded freshman class. Dylan Harper had 20 points, four assists and three steals. Classmate Lathan Sommerville added 11 points and eight rebounds in a win over Wagner. Ace Bailey missed the game but there is a chance he could make his debut when the Scarlet Knights face Saint Peter’s.

The Peacocks managed just 53 points in a loss to Seton Hall and then lost to UMass-Lowell 81-74 so that is something to consider when looking at the college basketball spread for this matchup.

Even though Rutgers limited Wagner to 19 first-half points, the total of 131 does seem a little on the low side.

3. Bet on Coppin State vs Virginia to Land Over 124.5

The first game for Ron Sanchez as Virginia’s head coach following the sudden retirement of Tony Bennett was a bit of a grind with the Cavaliers failing to cover as a 16.5-point favorite according to BetUS Sportsbook.

Virginia did shoot 57% from the field but only had 42 field-goal attempts so it is easy to understand why Monday’s matchup has a total of 124. That is seven points lower than any of the other games on Monday.

Coppin State has scored 49, 51, and 53 points in its first three games. Shooting 23% from 3-point range hasn’t helped.

This game probably won’t be an artistic masterpiece but look for it to land over 124 points.
