Bet Oakland vs Milwaukee to Win Horizon League

The Horizon League conference standings were very interesting late in the season, with the top eight teams only separated by four games. That could complicate NCAAB picks today, when the top-seeded Oakland (22-11, 15-5) matches up with Milwaukee (20-14, 12-8), the sixth seed, in the conference final.

The Panthers punched their ticket to the final by beating fifth-seeded Northern Kentucky 82-75, which led to an evenly matched game. However, the Golden Grizzlies struggled against the eighth-seeded Cleveland State, barely winning 74-71.

Oakland vs Milwaukee ATS Pick: Oakland -4½

Milwaukee and Oakland ended the regular season well and maintained that through the early stages of the tournament. Both programs are 8-2 over their last 10 games, which makes this matchup harder for college basketball lines to fully lean one way or the other.

However, Milwaukee has had the more challenging route to the final. The Panthers had to play the last two rounds of the three on the road and in a neutral setting. In the second round, Milwaukee was only favored by a point over Green Bay, winning that game 95-84 on the road. Then, in the semifinal, the Panthers were two-point underdogs but still managed to win.

On the other hand, Oakland has been favored in both of its tournament games by 4½. The Golden Bears beat Purdue Fort Wayne 75-65 to cover the spread but failed to do so in the semifinal win over Cleveland State.

Still, it is hard to argue with Oakland’s success over Milwaukee this season. In the first matchup between these teams, the Golden Bears won at home 100-95, covering a 4½ college basketball spread. Then, on the road, as an underdog, Oakland beat Milwaukee 91-87 in overtime. The games were close, but Oakland pulled off the win and covered each one.

Oakland vs Milwaukee Over/Under Pick: Under 151½

Given how high-scoring the regular-season matchups between these teams were, it is somewhat surprising to back the under in college basketball picks. However, in a natural setting, this is a different game with a conference championship on the line.

Furthermore, these teams have already played each other twice, and there is a good chance that could lead to the offenses slowing down slightly. The under is even more likely when you look at the game that went into overtime. That game was tied at 68 before heading to overtime, and if a player had made a game-winning shot, that matchup would have hit the under on the 157 points total.

Oakland vs Milwaukee Player Prop Pick: BJ Freeman Over 21.5 points (-113)

BJ Freeman has been the best scorer in the conference this season, averaging 21.4 points, and has stepped up in tournament play. In the semifinals, he had 27 points and should be in for another big game in the final. Milwaukee will likely not let Oakland get too far ahead, and Freeman will play a massive role.
