Former Teammates Lead Teams
Longtime friends will be meeting for the first time as coaches when the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats meet the Indiana Hoosiers on Thursday.
Reggie Theus was drafted in 1978, and after playing 13 seasons in the NBA, he turned to coach. He is now in his second year as head coach of Bethune-Cookman.
Mike Woodson was drafted two years later in 1980, playing 11 seasons in the league. Woodson is also in his second season with Indiana after taking over as head coach in March 2021.
After playing together for the Kings during the team’s transition from Kansas City to Sacramento and competing against each other in the NBA, the two have remained in touch. They will now contend in a new way when their respective teams meet.
