Betting NCAAB for Jan. 21

College Basketball Betting Parlay

Only two top-25 teams are in action for Thursday’s slate of college basketball games, but there is still plenty to chew on in terms of sports betting. Several Pac-12 matchups feature rivalry games (if they can even be called that now), while No. 4 Iowa will look to continue its bid for a No. 1 seed in NCAA March Madness. As of now, Iowa has +225 odds to make the Final Four.

Let’s peek at this new college basketball betting parlay we have going on:

Best Games for Jan 21

Arizona Wildcats vs Arizona State Sun Devils

It’s the college basketball version of the Duel in the Desert. The Wildcats are fifth in the Pac-12 with a 4-3 conference record. Overall, they are 10-3. The Sun Devils are second-last but much ahead of Washington. They are 1-3 in the conference and 4-6 overall.

This will be the first of two games in a five-day span for the Arizona squads thanks to Arizona’s home finale being moved to Jan. 25 per NCAA basketball news. The Wildcats are only slightly favored but are significantly better than their counterparts.

Arizona is more disciplined and plays better offense. They score 80 points a game (47th) and hit 36.2 percent of their threes (79th) compared to ASU’s 31.5 percent. Most notably, the Wildcats should outrebound the Sun Devils with their 24th-ranked squad.

Neither team is particularly reliable against the spread. Arizona is 5-8 and ASU is 1-9. But Arizona is just better and 3-1 on the road versus ASU being a paltry 1-4 at home. With the slight spread, Arizona should cover.

  • Pick: Arizona Wildcats to win and cover -2.5 (-110)

Indiana Hoosiers vs (4) Iowa Hawkeyes

On a five-game winning streak, the high-flying Hawkeyes will take on the Hoosiers in a Big Ten showdown. Iowa is second in the conference with a 6-1 record and 12-2 overall. Indiana is eighth at 3-4 and 8-6 overall.

This should be business as usual for the Hawkeyes who have covered in seven of their last ten games. Their second-ranked offense in the nation (92.2 points per game) should methodically break down the Hoosiers, who play decent defense.

Iowa isn’t too flashy on offense, but they are like a well-oiled machine. They are tops in Division-I in assist-to-turnover ratio (2:1) and commit the 11th-fewest fouls. Indiana will need a big game from sophomore F Trayce Jackson-Davis who is putting up 20.4 points and 8.9 boards.

As far as college basketball matchups go, this one is tailor-made for Iowa. Indiana is a decent team that can score and defend, but not to the level that will disrupt Iowa enough to beat them. Iowa is an easy chalk play here.

  • Pick: Iowa to win and cover -10.0

(24) UCLA Bruins vs California Golden Bears

The Pac-12-leading UCLA Bruins will look to continue their conference dominance against California, who just recorded their first road win this season after losing six in a row. The Bruins are 7-0 in the conference and 11-2 overall. The Golden Bears are 2-6 in the conference and 7-8 overall.

Statistically, UCLA is just superior to California in almost every way: offense, defense, and rebounding. But the Golden Bears at home have covered in three of their last five and only lost one game and UCLA did survive a scare from 1-11 Washington not too long ago.

UCLA has historically big brothered the Golden Bears with an 8-2 record in their last ten matchups and have covered in their last three including a 20-point blowout in their last meeting. The Bruins got this.

  • Pick: UCLA Bruins to win and cover -9.5

College Basketball Betting Parlay

Arizona to cover (-110), Iowa to cover -10.0 (-110), and UCLA to cover -9.5 (-110) at +596

This chalk-heavy parlay appears to be on shaky legs, especially with UCLA’s near-upset against Washington. But they didn’t get upset. They found a way to win and that should only build their character. As far as college basketball picks go, you could do worse with them as the swing bet here.

Arizona is a bit undervalued as 2.5-point favourites. They haven’t been so hot against the spread, but they’re playing ASU who is both worse on the court and on the betting lines. Iowa should be the easiest cover here as they soundly defeat Indiana.

There are still a dozen games available to bet on for NCAA basketball this Thursday, all available in our online sportsbook. You can swap any of the teams here with others or just bet them straight-up.
