Boise State ATS Pick at Home vs UNLV

It is too early for NCAA basketball predictions to have a heavy favorite to win the Mountain West conference, but Boise State (12-4, 3-0) is making some noise by going undefeated so far. Boise State, which is undefeated at home, will host UNLV (8-7, 1-2) in what should be a test for both programs.

In UNLV’s last game, the Rebels lost to Utah State, the only ranked team in the conference, by a narrow 87-86 margin. The Broncos kept winning in conference play, beating Nevada 64-56 for the team’s fourth straight win.

ATS Pick: Boise State (-5)

Boise State has been playing well in Mountain West games and started conference play already looking like a good team for college basketball odds. Over the previous 10 games, the Broncos’ only loss was to Washington State (66-61), a Pac-12 team that is playing well.

On top of winning the first three games in Mountain West play, Boise State has been great in college basketball spreads. All three of the Broncos’ wins in conference play have resulted in them covering the spread, having been favored twice.

In the win over Nevada, the spread was set at 6½ and Boise State was able to cover. The Broncos’ leading scorer, Tyson Degenhart (15.5 points per game), put up 20 points with nine rebounds and four assists in the win.

While the Broncos’ offense has leaned on Degenhart, their defense has been able to hold its own. The Broncos have the second-best defense in the conference, allowing 64.8 points per game. It has to hold up against UNLV, which is fourth in scoring within the Mountain West.

Over/Under Pick- Under 141½

Despite UNLV having one of the top offenses in the conference, averaging 77.3 points, this game could hit the under for college basketball lines. A big reason for that is Boise State’s defense, which has allowed 61 points per game in conference play.

However, facing UNLV’s offense will be a test for Boise State. While the Rebels might not have a clear-cut leader of the offense, they have five players who average over 10 points, with any of them able to step up.

Luis Rodriguez and Kalib Boone led the way in the last loss to Utah State. Rodriguez finished with the biggest night, scoring 23 points and grabbing nine rebounds, while Boone finished with 18 and six.

Even with that, when Boise State wins, it finds a way to keep the game low-scoring, which might be the case against UNLV.

Team Prop Pick: Both teams to Score 65+ (Yes. -121)

This might be a close bet, but it should happen. Boise State should be the winning team, being undefeated at home and playing well in conference play. UNLV has not been the best team in Mountain West play, but its offense has put the team in solid positions to compete. That should continue in this game by scoring over 65 points, even against a strong Boise State defense.
