Armando Bacot will go for his 60th career double-double Tuesday when his North Carolina Tar Heels welcome the Boston College Eagles for an ACC tilt.
Bacot recorded his 59th career double-double in Saturday’s win over Louisville and one more will tie him with Hall of Famer Billy Cunningham for the most in school history.
The 6-11 forward had a streak of five straight 20-point games end last week when he missed all but a minute of a loss to Virginia Tech due to an ankle injury.
The Tar Heels, who are putting up 80 points per game, good for 30th in the nation, scored a season-low 58 points in that game without Bacot.
The Eagles had feel-good wins over Virginia Tech and Notre Dame and lost by just one point against Duke, but they are trending the wrong way after a pair of defeats.
Earl Grant’s team will have to pick up on defense if they want to hang with the Tar Heels after allowing Wake Forest and Miami to shoot 55% overall and 50% from 3-point land.
Boston College has fallen to 339th out of 350 teams in the nation in 3-point defense (37.9%), which could be good news for the Tar Heels, who have shot it better of late from outside the arc but are making just 31.9% for the season on 383 attempts.

Dunn Flashing off the Bench for Heels
After missing a month with a broken hand, sophomore guard D’Marco Dunn is finally carving out a role with the Tar Heels as a bench scorer and solid defender.
Dunn had the best game of his career with 14 points and five rebounds against Louisville, but it is what he did on the defensive end that garnered attention.
The Arizona native entered the game with the Tar Heels trailing by eight points, but by the time he was done shutting down Louisville guard El Ellis, they led 11 at the half.
“When he is locked in defensively, he is gifted on that end,” North Carolina coach Hubert Davis told the media of Dunn, who starred at Westover High School in Fayetteville, NC. “He has great feet, athleticism, long arms and he’s a strong guard who can guard multiple positions. When you add in his ability to score, it was a great game.”
Ashton-Langford Close to Milestone
Makai Ashton-Langford has scored in double figures in six straight games to draw within 16 points of 1,000 for his career for the Eagles.
The senior guard from Worcester, MA, started his career at Providence, but most of his points (735) have come wearing a Boston College jersey.
Makai-Langford and his brother DeMarr Langford, Jr. combined for 39 of the team’s 72 points against Miami, the third-highest single-game output by brothers this season.
