When looking at the college basketball trends, BYU is 7-3 in games decided by six points or less this season and that is one game better than Wisconsin’s 6-4 mark.

The Cougars won nine games in a row before falling to Houston in the Big 12 Conference semifinals while Wisconsin took out Michigan State on the way to the Big Ten championship game.

My Analysis

If there is a potential red flag coming out of BYU’s March Madness opener against VCU, it could be that the Cougars allowed 15 3-pointers.

Wisconsin opened more than a few eyes and made NCAA basketball news when the Badgers put up 103 points on Arizona earlier in the season. Even though the Badgers are 5-3 in March, we like the Big Ten tournament finalists to extend their season, especially if 7-footer Steven Crowl plays like he did in the first-round win over Montana.

The total for both teams in their respective first-round games was 151 so take the under in your online bet. Blackwell had a strong opener with 19 points.
