Both BYU and Utah Have Five Players Averaging Double-Digit Points

BYU boasts a balanced attack with five players averaging double-digit points. Guard Jaxson Robinson has been the Cougars biggest threat averaging 16.9 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game while shooting 43.9% from long range in his first eight outings. Noah Waterman is also a major factor 11.3 points and 6.8 boards per game this season.

Utah also leans on balanced scoring with five players averaging double-digit points. The Utes offense runs through big man Branden Carlson who is posting 17.3 points, 6.3 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.1 blocks per contest in seven appearances.

Utah boasts depth down low with center Keba Keita averaging 10.3 points, a team-leading 7 boards and 1.3 blocks per game. Utes head coach Craig Smith sees some similarities between the surging Cougars and the 1980s Showtime Lakers.

(BYU) looks really good,” Smith said, per KSL Sports. “Their numbers are really, really high all the way across the board. They kind of remind you of the Lakers of the ‘80s with Magic (Johnson), (James) Worthy, and Kareem (Abdul-Jabbar). They put a lot of pressure on you and play through the pass.
