Pac-12 Foes Look to Make Case for NCAAs
The Colorado Buffaloes and USC Trojans are both clearly outside the field of 68. Neither team would be selected for the NCAA Tournament if Selection Sunday was today.
Both teams have a ton of work to do if they want to be part of March Madness. Neither team can realistically afford a loss in this crucial Pac-12 battle.
In a matchup of teams trying to get a key win, which is the best option versus the college basketball odds?
Buffaloes Winners of Seven of Eight
The Colorado Buffaloes have had a really weird season. They beat Tennessee by a double-digit margin in Nashville. Tennessee looks like one of the two best teams in the SEC and a team which is likely to get a high seed in March Madness.
At the same time, this is a Colorado team that also lost to Grambling State, UMass and Washington. The Buffaloes crushed Colorado State by 28 points, but blew a 15-point lead to Arizona State at home.
They hammered Oregon. They lost on the road at California, a team which has only three wins this season. Those who bet online are feeling the whiplash with this team.
Colorado is extremely inconsistent and erratic. Head coach Tad Boyle has to find a way to get this team to play with more dependability and with solid habits that remain intact regardless of whether Colorado is playing at home or on the road.
USC Strong at Home
The USC Trojans are coming off consecutive losses to Washington State and UCLA, which has really blunted their momentum. Those making their college basketball picks had seen them win seven straight prior to that.
In the loss to UCLA, they trailed 50-34 early in the second half before holding the Bruins without a point for nearly eight minutes and bringing their offense to a standstill.
USC took a 58-56 lead in the final minute and was on the verge of a huge win, but UCLA hit a 3-pointer off an offensive rebound, which led to a 60-58 win.
In USC’s loss to Washington State, the Trojans allowed 14 made 3-pointers and were just 3 of 16 themselves. The Trojans desperately need players who can hit perimeter jump shots.

Colorado vs USC Prediction
These are not trustworthy teams, so it’s hard to make a clear decision in the sportsbook. However, Colorado is a lot less trustworthy on the road than at home and USC does have a home-court advantage, winning seven of eight.
Colorado lost to Washington, lost to Cal and struggled against a not-very-good Stanford team on the road in Pac-12 play. The Buffaloes probably won’t be able to solve USC on the road – even if the Trojans are hardly a lock to win this one.
USC is listed at -165 in our Vegas lines. This means that if you wager $100 on the Trojans, you have a chance to win $61. Colorado is +145, offering a chance to win $145 on a $100 wager.
The implied probability attached to the betting lines gives the Trojans a 62.26% chance to win, with the Buffaloes at 40.82%.
