In recent years, the matchups between Duke and Virginia would be circled once the ACC men’s basketball schedule was released. That is not the case this season with Virginia tied for ninth in the ACC standings. The Cavaliers have covered in three of the last four home games against the Blue Devils. Can Virginia do it again on Monday?

The college basketball lines list Duke as a 15-point favorite as the Blue Devils look to improve to 8-1 on the road this season. The Blue Devils have covered in five of seven games this season as the road favorite.

When looking at the college basketball futures odds, Duke is second only behind Auburn at +350 for the shortest odds of winning March Madness. The championship odds for Virginia have trended in the wrong direction after opening at +10000.

3 Duke vs Virginia Bets You Should Make

1. Bet Duke (-15) to Cover at Virginia

Virginia has already lost to Notre Dame by 15 points and to Louisville by 20 points as the home underdog this season. Monday’s matchup will mark the first time since 2011 that Virginia is listed by the BetUS sportsbook as a double-digit underdog at home. That game happened to come against Duke as well with the Blue Devils barely covering as 14-point favorites.

Duke’s recent loss to Clemson seems to have served as a wake-up call. The Blue Devils won their last two games 19 and 36 points, per Duke vs Virginia stats.

Virginia has won its last three games but is 0-4 outright against ranked teams this season. Three of those losses have come by at least 18 points.

When making Feb. 17 college basketball bets, take Duke to cover as the road underdog.

2. Bet Duke vs Virginia Over 133

Virginia is showing some improvement on offense with the Cavaliers scoring at least 73 in each of their last five games. After being held under 80 points in its last two games, Duke erupted for 106 points in a win over Stanford.

Each of Virginia’s last four home games have finished over the sports betting odds total while four of Duke’s last six games have gone over.

Even though Duke and Virginia rank first and second in the ACC in scoring defense, look for the Blue Devils to get things going against the Cavaliers.

The total is set at 133 and five of the last six Duke games with totals under 140 landed over the total. That is just one of the reasons why one of the Duke vs Virginia best bets is for the game to finish over 133 points.

3. Duke’s Cooper Flagg 31+ Points, Rebounds and Assists (-108)

Duke freshman Cooper Flagg hasn’t been forcing the issue – he hasn’t attempted at least 20 field-goal attempts in his last 14 games. He has still had at least 20 points in eight of his last 13 games.

Flagg is shooting 56% from the field, 50% from 3-point range and is 11-for-11 from the foul line in the last two games. Scoring against Virginia can be a bit challenging so it might be a better option to look at his combined points, rebounds and assists total when making college basketball player prop bets.

The biggest NCAAB news involving Flagg is that the player listed by the BetUS sportsbook as the favorite to be the top pick in the 2025 NBA Draft floated the idea that he might return to play for Duke next season.
