Being a ranked team comes with pressure but the Duke Blue Devils have settled down and five consecutive wins could be on the cards.
The Blue Devils face the Wake Forest Demon Deacons, who have struggled for consistency and will start the game as underdogs with the sportsbook.

Duke’s Defense Standing Up
The Blue Devils scored only 56 points when losing 75-56 to No. 1 Purdue, but they rebounded with four consecutive victories and it has been on the back of solid defense.
They’re allowing just 58.7 points per game, and with recent wins against Iowa and Ohio State, they’re back in national championship contention.
“The defense is the base of who we are,” first-year Blue Devils coach Jon Scheyer said. “When I found out I was going to be the head coach at Duke, two things are connected to Duke basketball: playing defense and sharing the ball. We’ll continue to emphasize that, but just proud of the effort.”
They are ranked 14th at the moment following an 82-55 win against UMES, which wasn’t a tough game. Facing Wake Forest is a much bigger challenge and bettors are looking for more success.
With a 6-6 record against the spread, Duke hasn’t been an excellent bet and it has only three covers from its last six games.
NCAAB odds have Duke favored to win and it could be a statement ACC victory for the visitors on Tuesday.
Demon Deacons Struggling
The Demon Deacons have gone four games without covering a spread and bettors are becoming increasingly frustrated.
The most recent cover came against Wisconsin when winning 78-75 as a +6 underdog, so they don’t mind playing as the underdogs.
However, they didn’t fire in losses to Clemson and Rutgers, which isn’t good form against a team as well-coached as Duke.
Despite being 8-4 overall, they are 0-1 in the conference and we can’t see that record improving in the near future. They’ll need to perform at a much higher level to score an upset win over Duke.
There hasn’t been any cause for concern offensively with 75.1 points per game, but allowing 70.8 ppg on defense isn’t going to get it done. Kyle Filipowski could have a field day for Duke if there is no interior defense.

Duke has won the last five against Wake Forest and nine of 10 overall. However, it’s a closer race with spread betting.
