Following a road win against No. 9 Tennessee on Saturday, the Kentucky Wildcats (11-6, 2-3 SEC) have newfound hope as they play host to the Georgia Bulldogs (13-4, 3-1 SEC) on Tuesday night.
Georgia comes in hot, going 6-1 outright and against the spread (ATS) in its last seven games. With 10 consecutive losses ATS, Kentucky was struggling mightily before a cover against Tennessee. Will the Wildcats continue to build momentum, or will the Dawgs give Kentucky a harsh reality check?

Georgia Off to Surprise Start
The SEC is full of surprises this season. Alabama wasn’t expected to be a major contender – it holds -150 odds to win the conference. Kentucky was one of the favorites to win the SEC. Now, the Wildcats are +5000. Georgia, Vanderbilt and Missouri were expected to struggle. Instead, the Bulldogs, along with the Commodores and Tigers, are off to a strong start. Georgia is a longshot to winning the SEC at +50000, but it can make a statement and become a potential tournament team with a win against Kentucky.
The Bulldogs are getting it done on the defensive end, ranking eighth in allowed 3-point percentage and in the 89th percentile of allowed points per game. Georgia has held its last two opponents to under 60 points and 21.7% on 3-pointers.
Guards Terry Roberts (15.6 points) and Kario Oquendo (13.1 points) lead a solid backcourt. Robert has been on fire, averaging 19.6 points in the last five games. The Bulldogs are a dangerous team after covering four consecutive games as underdogs.
Kentucky Mounting Turnaround?
Saturday’s 63-56 win over then-No. 5 Tennessee cannot be understated. Before the turnaround performance, Kentucky was reeling with back-to-back embarrassing losses to Alabama (78-52) and South Carolina (71-68). Even making the NCAA Tournament was becoming a real concern.
Now, Kentucky has hope once again. The Wildcats won a gritty game against one of the nation’s hottest teams. Plus, it was done without starting point guard Sahvir Wheeler (shoulder) and key reserve Daimion Collins (foot). Both are questionable for Tuesday’s game.
Most importantly, the Cats’ defense finally played well. The Volunteers were held to 40.4% from the field and three of 21 on 3-pointers. Kentucky moved up more than 20 spots in the NCAA’s NET Rankings, and its defensive efficiency rose nearly 30 spots.
After the Wildcats’ first cover ATS since Nov. 23, they still have a long way to go with +5000 NCAAB odds to win the SEC.

Georgia vs Kentucky Picks & Prediction
Georgia has covered four straight games as an underdog, is 2-1 ATS in its last three away games and has covered four consecutive games in Rupp Arena. With the Bulldogs sitting at 3-1 in conference play while Kentucky has failed to cover six consecutive home games, Georgia should be able to cover. In addition, the Wildcats have had a hard time keeping guards out of the lane for most of the season, which could be a problem against the Dawgs’ guards.
While Kentucky may fail to cover, it should find a way to win outright. The Wildcats just punked Tennessee on the glass, winning the rebounding battle by 20. Georgia ranks 119th in defensive rebounding percentage, and the Cats rank third in offensive rebounding percentage.
