The Georgia Bulldogs may be the best college football team in the world, but their basketball team is unranked and will face the No. 4 Tennessee Volunteers on Wednesday night. The spread for this game is reminiscent of a UGA football game at 16 ½ points. Only in this instance, the Vols are heavy favorites.
Can Tennessee cover this massive spread or will the Bulldogs keep things “close”?
Let’s check the latest NBA news, stats, injury report and NBA lines for Georgia vs Tennessee. We’ve got plenty of NBA picks for you to consider.
Georgia Coming off Back-to-Back Losses
The Georgia Bulldogs are coming off a loss to Kentucky on the road before getting beat by Vanderbilt 85-82 at home on Saturday. The loss to the Wildcats was to be expected, especially on the road, but losing to Vanderbilt at home is not a good sign for this team moving forward.
It was the first game Georgia was favored since December, and the Bulldogs showed us why with a three-point loss to a low-quality opponent.
It was also the second game in a row that the Bulldogs failed to cover. It’s true that Georgia is 6-3 against the spread (ATS) in games the Bulldogs are underdogs, but they are stumbling right now and may not be able to recover.
Georgia has a positive return on investment of 0.72% so far this year. While it’s not a very impressive number, the team is in the black with bettors profiting 0.15 units.
Tennessee 8-1 at Home
The Volunteers are in a great spot to succeed thanks to their near-perfect record on their home court. The only blip on their record, coincidentally, came in their previous home game to the unranked Kentucky Wildcats.
It was just the third loss of the season for Tennessee, but second to an unranked team. While that suggests the Bulldogs have a shot, they are not nearly good enough to reasonably upset the Vols.
If you are second-guessing the Vols here, consider that all five of their starters are averaging at least 10 points and 3.9 rebounds per game. I love teams like this that spread the ball around and utilize everyone’s skills to the fullest. Santiago Vescovi leads the team with 12.5 points per game, but he’s never charged with putting the team on his back.
From an NCAAB betting perspective, the Volunteers are a solid bet-on team with a 4-2 ATS record in their previous six games and a positive return on investment of 10.53%.

Georgia vs Tennessee Picks & Prediction
There is no denying that Georgia is a bad team, but the stats suggest bookmakers underestimate the Bulldogs constantly in this matchup. Despite a poor W/L record, the Bulldogs are 8-1 against the spread against the Volunteers over the last seven seasons. With the spread at 16½ tonight, I am somewhat tentatively siding with the Bulldogs to keep this game within reason.
