ATS Pick: Texas Tech +13

Look for Houston to get back to winning ways. However, that 13-point spread seems to be a little high.

Nobody is expecting Texas Tech to finish the season atop the Big 12 standings, but don’t be surprised to see the feisty Red Raiders hang around in this matchup.

The Red Raiders are strong defensively and a good foul-shooting team that doesn’t foul too often; that combination will keep them in most games.

We’re not calling for Texas Tech to pull the upset, just to keep the final margin under 13 points.

Over/Under Pick: Under 129½

Houston is first in defensive efficiency, according to the Pomeroy College Basketball database. Houston is 18th and Texas Tech is 32nd in offensive efficiency.

Texas Tech won a bit of a slugfest, topping Kansas State 60-59 the last time out, while it has been a bit of a grind for Houston in the last couple of games.

However, the total of 129½ is one of the lowest among Wednesday’s games.

Player Prop Pick: L.J. Cryer Over 14.5 Points (-124)

Between his time at Baylor and Houston, L.J. Cryer is a 1000-point scorer and a player who has shot 41% from 3-point range.

In the last two games, Houston’s top scorer is 4-for-23 from the field and 2-of-13 on 3-pointers. He is too talented for that to continue, so look for him to bounce back.

Questions of the Day

Will L.J. Cryer score over 17.5 points in this game?

With a total of 10 points in his last two games, it would seem unlikely, but we think he’ll bounce back and like his prop of over 14.5 points.

Will Jamal Shead record over 6.5 assists?

Shead is putting up six assists per game, so it is not much of a reach to suggest that he might go over 6.5 assists against the Red Raiders.
