There were plenty of brackets busting on Saturday with Florida knocking No. 1 overall seed Auburn out of the NCAA Tournament and Houston finding a way to erase a seven-point Duke lead in the final 75 seconds to set up a national title matchup between programs that haven’t met in more than 50 years.

Both teams have been pretty mediocre at covering against the college basketball spread in the NCAA Tournament. The BetUS sportsbook lists Florida as a 1-point favorite in Monday night’s title clash.

The fact that Florida wasn’t in the top 20 in the odds of winning the national NCAAB championship when the season began doesn’t matter now. The Gators are 40 minutes away from winning it all and delivering on some March Madness odds.

There are times when it looks like Houston can’t score without its ability to crash the glass and pick up offensive rebounds – and then the Cougars will start hitting from the perimeter. Florida is the more explosive of the offensive teams playing for the national title. Keep that in mind when it comes time to bet on March Madness.

2. Over/Under Pick: Houston vs Florida Over 140½ points

This is a tough call. It won’t be a surprise to see the final score come close to Saturday’s second semifinal with Houston rallying for the 70-67 win over Duke. With the sports betting odds total set at 141.5, some might be tempted to take the game to land under.

Duke was one of the most talented teams in the country. The Blue Devils were also a team led by freshmen. The top three scorers for Florida are seniors. Walter Clayton is averaging 24.6 points and Alijah Martin is contributing 15.2 points. Will Richard is also a double-digit scorer in the NCAA tournament.

L.J. Cryer has been all over the place during the NCAA Tournament. He had 30 points in a win over Gonzaga and six days later was held to five points on 2-of-13 shooting in a narrow escape against Purdue.

Cryer made college basketball news by averaging 21.5 points over the last two games after putting up 26 in the win over Duke. There could be some value in going with Cryer at -115 to have 23+ combined points, rebounds and assists since he won’t have to go up against the Houston defense.

There hasn’t been much of a difference in the scoring output for Florida in either half in the five March Madness games, with 77.2 points in the first 20 minutes compared to 80.6 after halftime. It is a different deal for Houston. Over the last four games, 58 points have been scored in the first half with the number jumping to 75.5 in the second half.
