Hoosiers Look To Stay Perfect
The No. 10 Indiana Hoosiers try to stay undefeated as they open the Big Ten portion of their schedule with a trip to face the Rutgers Scarlet Knights on Saturday. Indiana has won its first seven contests, including a home win over No. 18 North Carolina on Wednesday, though this is only its second true road game of the season.
Rutgers is coming off a road loss to Miami on Wednesday, snapping its two-game winning streak. Both teams want to get off to a good start in the Big Ten race, so this should be a hotly-contested game. Make sure you read our in-depth preview of this contest to help with your betting online.

Indiana Excelling at Both Ends of Floor
The Indiana Hoosiers have been one of the better scoring teams in the nation, averaging 87.1 points to rank 10th in the country. Of course, they’ve also been pretty good at the other end of the floor as well, holding opponents to 60.1 points per game after they limited North Carolina to 65.
“I just thought that our defense was very constrictive, like an anaconda,” Indiana forward Trayce Jackson-Davis said after Wednesday’s win. “It just really sucked the life out of UNC early. They couldn’t get any big shots early and we kind of rode it out till the end of the game.”
Jackson-Davis is the centerpiece for the Hoosiers in both aspects of the game, and he showed that against the Tar Heels, going for 21 points, 10 rebounds, four assists and four blocked shots. On the season, the senior All-American is averaging 19.2 points, 8.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.5 blocks.
Senior guard Xavier Johnson has been playing well, ranking second on the team in scoring with 12.3 points and dishing out a team-best 4.7 assists. Johnson has been very efficient with his own offense, shooting 56.3% from the floor, including 53.3% from 3-point range.

Rutgers Looking for Bounce-Back at Home
The Rutgers Scarlet Knights have been tough to play at home, going 5-0, but they’ve struggled away from Jersey Mike’s Arena, going 0-2, including Wednesday’s loss at Miami. The Scarlet Knights played well for much of that contest, leading by as many as 11 points in the second half, but they couldn’t hold on, coming away with a loss.
One positive was the play of senior guard Caleb McConnell, who made his second appearance and first start of the season after returning from a knee injury that kept him sidelined for the first five games. McConnell led the Scarlet Knights with 16 points and also had six rebounds, four assists and two steals in the loss.
Junior center Clifford Omoruyi will be a key for the Scarlet Knights’ upset hopes against Indiana. The 6-11 Nigerian is averaging 16.7 points and 9.9 rebounds while blocking nearly two shots a game.
Senior guard Cam Spencer is averaging 15.3 points and a team-high 3.9 assists per game. He’ll have to withstand some tight-pressure defense from Indiana and avoid committing costly turnovers that turn into easy baskets on the other end. He’s averaging just 1.1 turnovers per game in 2022-23.
