Big 12 Rivals at Opposite Ends of Leaderboard
The No. 12 Iowa State Cyclones tasted defeat for the third time in five games on Saturday and look to rebound against the Texas Tech Red Raiders on Monday. The pair met just a few weeks back, and Iowa State manhandled the Red Raiders and won by 34 as 4.0-point favorites.
The spread for this game is even tighter. Can Texas Tech reverse its fortune or will Iowa State blow out the Red Raiders for a second time this month?

Let’s check the latest college basketball news, stats, injury reports and college basketball lines for Iowa State vs Texas Tech. We’ve got plenty of NCAA basketball picks for you to consider.
Iowa State Losing to Wrong Teams
Iowa State has struggled a bit since the start of conference play, with a 2-3 record in its previous five games. What may shock you is which teams the Cyclones are losing to. They beat No. 7 Texas and No. 5 Kansas State in their last four games, but also lost to unranked Oklahoma State and Missouri.
Despite all of that, it’s impossible to ignore that the Cyclones beat Texas Tech by 34 points less than two weeks ago. I’m not sure enough has changed to warrant a spread of just one point in favor of the Cyclones.
The Cyclones have one of the better against-the-spread (ATS) records in the conference at 11-8, with an ROI of 10.82%.
The only negative for the Cyclones, as I see it, is that third-leading scorer Caleb Grill is questionable for Monday night’s game. Other than that, I don’t know why Iowa State is such a short favorite here.
Texas Tech 0-8 in Big 12
The nicest thing we can say about the Texas Tech Red Raiders is they are coming off an impressive 76-68 victory over LSU. Every win counts, but after eight games in a row, a single victory isn’t going to do much good in terms of this team’s chances to salvage their season.
The Red Raiders are winless in eight conference games and will be hard-pressed to change that on Monday. They are the only team in the conference with fewer than two wins and look destined for a last-place finish.
The Red Raiders aren’t only struggling to win games straight up. Texas Tech also has one of the worst ATS records in the nation at 7-13-1. Bettors loyal to the Red Raiders are down 7.30 units so far this season with a negative return on investment of -31.60%.
Even more concerning is the Red Raiders started the season off with a decent ATS record and have been getting worse as the season progresses. They are a hard team to trust, even at home, with a 2-7 ATS record in their previous nine games.
To make matters worse, the Red Raiders are dealing with injuries to two of their top four scorers, Pop Isaacs and Fardaws Aimaq. Both are questionable for Monday with lower leg injuries.

Iowa State vs Texas Tech Head-to-Head
This is the second game between these conference rivals this season after the Cyclones decimated the Red Raiders 84-50 two weeks ago. However, before that blowout, Texas Tech was 7-1 SU and 8-0 ATS in this series, dating back to 2019.

Iowa State vs Texas Tech Picks & Prediction
With a 34-point loss not too far back in the rearview, I don’t see much reason to trust Texas Tech in this spot. The Red Raiders aren’t as bad as they played last time, but they certainly aren’t good enough to bet on against the best team in the Big 12.
