Can Jayhawks Avenge Previous Loss to Horned Frogs?

Big Monday’s marquee matchup will feature the Kansas Jayhawks and TCU Horned Frogs battling in Big 12 action. According to the Associated Press, the Jayhawks are a top-five team, but TCU is favored at home by 1½ points. After getting torched by TCU 83-60 in late January, can the Jayhawks pull off an upset?

Let’s check the latest college basketball news, stats, injury reports and college basketball lines for Kansas vs TCU. We’ve got plenty of NCAA basketball picks for you to consider.

Kansas in Revenge Mode

The last time these teams met, the Horned Frogs handed Kansas one of their worst losses in Bill Self’s 20-year tenure as head coach for the Jayhawks. Statistically, it was their second-worst loss at home in more than two decades. The loss snapped a 16-game winning streak at home for the Jayhawks. They have not lost back-to-back games at home since Ronald Reagan was president.

No. 3 Kansas is tied with Texas for the Big 12 lead. And with just four games left, it needs every win it can muster, especially with the season finale against the Longhorns.

Defense continues to be an issue for this team, with the 142nd-ranked scoring defense and allowing opponents to shoot over 32% from downtown.

The Jayhawks also decently banged up, with five players on the injury report for Monday. While their depth will suffer, none of the injured players are considered critical to this roster.

TCU Falling Apart

I am shocked that the Horned Frogs are favored in this game despite their dissection of this team less than a month ago. With a 1-4 record in their previous five games, all is not well for this team. The Horned Frogs lost three straight games to ranked Big 12 rivals in Kansas State (82-61), Baylor (72-68) and Iowa State (70-59). Aside from the Baylor game, those losses weren’t even close.

This recent slide is costing bettors units as TCU is 2-5 against the spread in its previous seven games.

Now, we can’t pile all this on the Horned Frogs without mentioning that the reason for their collapse is due to injuries to Mike Miles and Eddie Lampkin Jr. Miles is leading the offense with 17.9 points per game while Lampkin contributes a lot on the paint and defense down low.

Now for some good news. Miles returned to action on Saturday against Oklahoma State and the Horned Frogs dropped 100 points on the Cowboys’ 10th-ranked defense in terms of efficiency. Kansas’ defense is better, but the Horned Frogs may be back on track with their best scorer.

Kansas vs TCU Head-to-Head

The Horned Frogs crushed Kansas 83-60 in mid-January. TCU covered easily as +7 underdogs. However, it was just the second win for TCU against their Big 12 rivals since 2018. Meanwhile, the under is 5-0 in the last five games between the two.

Kansas vs TCU Picks and Prediction

Despite the return of Miles to the lineup and the Horned Frogs’ subsequent offensive explosion, I feel like this game will go Kansas’ way. We rarely get the No. 3 team in the nation as underdogs. I’m not about to pass up that value.

The TCU Horned Frogs are listed at -130 in our Vegas college basketball lines. If you wager $100 on the Horned Frogs, you can win $77.
