Visiting Wildcats Seeking Revenge

SEC Rivals Try to Bounce Back

SEC teams will close the season against each other when the Kentucky Wildcats visit the Arkansas Razorbacks on Saturday.

The two previously met in early February in Kentucky, when the Razorbacks got the better of the Wildcats in an 88-73 victory.

Kentucky dropped its last game to Vanderbilt, ending a four-game win streak, and Arkansas has fallen in its last two games. The Wildcats are tied for third in the SEC with an 11-6 record while the Razorbacks’ 8-9 record has them tied for eighth in the conference.

For those making college basketball picks, the Razorbacks are favorites at home to complete the season sweep

Kentucky Seeks Boost in Standings

The Kentucky Wildcats didn’t look like they were going to make the NCAA Tournament for some time, a story that was big in college basketball news.

Kentucky’s recent four-game win streak changed that as it is now projected to make the tournament after picking up four Quad 1 wins during that time. However, the team’s recent home loss to Vanderbilt dropped Kentucky’s projected seeding.

The Wildcats’ game against Arkansas on the road will be a chance for another Quad 1 win and to boost their rank. It may be a tough task, though, as Oscar Tshiebwe and Antonio Reeves were the only two who were able to score in Kentucky’s last loss, with the team shooting 32.2%. Point guard Cason Wallace was also injured in the loss.

Kentucky will need to get back to more balanced scoring to avenge its loss to Arkansas. Wallace’s status should also be monitored, as scores and odds could be affected if the Wildcats are without a true point guard.

Arkansas Bidding for Sweep

The Arkansas Razorbacks will be trying to halt their two-game skid with their second win of the season over the Wildcats.

Although Arkansas’ defense is usually strong, it has been lacking in its past two losses. The Razorbacks’ defense is fourth in the SEC, allowing 66.5 points a game on 41.4% shooting. However, in its last two losses, opponents averaged 80.5 points on 47.7% shooting.

The first matchup between Arkansas and Kentucky featured lots of offense, with the Razorbacks shooting the ball at a 62.7% clip. The Razorbacks’ defense also played a role, however, turning the Wildcats over 15 times, leading to 23 points.

The Razorbacks’ offense is one of the best in the conference, with their 74.7 points a game fourth and 48% shooting percentage first, but it didn’t show in their recent loss. Arkansas finished with a 36.7% shooting percentage while no one on the team was able to reach 15 points.

Arkansas will need a performance closer to its first matchup with Kentucky to complete the season sweep.
