Kentucky Seeking to Bounce Back
Kentucky saw its four-game winning streak come to an end with a home loss against Kansas. While there is no sure thing with this Wildcats’ team, bouncing back against one of the worst teams in the SEC seems more than likely for Kentucky.
Both teams rank near the bottom of the SEC in free throw attempts per game as well as 3-pointers attempted per game. The key figures to be how the Rebels handle Kentucky’s national player of the year candidate in the lane.
Seven of the nine wins for Ole Miss have come at home. Kentucky is just 2-4 on the road.
Kentucky ranks in the top 20 nationally offensive rebounds and total rebounds per game. Ole Miss is 30th with an average of 4.8 blocked shots per game.
Daimon Collins is questionable for Kentucky as a result of a foot injury. He hasn’t played since a Jan. 10 loss to South Carolina.
Matthew Murrell, the team leader in scoring and assists, has missed the last two Ole Miss games and he is questionable with a knee injury.
Kentucky was in the top five in the national polls earlier this season. However, the Wildcats aren’t receiving votes in either the Associated Press Top 25 or coaches’ polls this week.
According to the college basketball odds, Kentucky (+800) is 16th in the odds to reach the Final Four. Kentucky (+4000) is fourth in the odds to win the SEC title.

Reeves the Picture of Consistency
It would be hard to find a player more reliable than Kentucky senior Antonio Reeves.
Teammate Oscar Tshiebwe dominates the play during the games and naturally is the headliner for a Kentucky team trying to find its way. However, Reeves is Mr. Reliability for the Wildcats.
He is shooting 41.7% at home and 41.3% on the road. His points per game numbers (12.7 at home, 12.8 on the road) are nearly identical.
Reeves has scored in double digits in seven straight games as the Illinois State transfer seems to be more comfortable with each game.

He is coming off a game against Kansas in which he missed all three of his 3-pointers after going 15 of 39 over the previous six games, so expect him to have a bounce-back performance.

Rebels Looking for Some Home Cooking
Ole Miss started the season 6-1 at home. However, it has been a struggle ever since with the Rebels dropping their last five home games.
Certainly an increased level of competition has played a factor with games against Tennessee and Auburn included during the losing skid. Still, there are plenty of issues that need to be addressed.
The last time Ole Miss was at home, Missouri shot 55% from the field and made 16 of 30 shots from 3-point range. Missouri is the top scoring team in the SEC for a reason. Still, there is some tightening up needed for the Rebels as they welcome a Kentucky team that will be a bit fired up after seeing its four-game winning streak snapped in a home loss to Kansas.
