Baylor has been one of the more disappointing teams this season. Will a couple of tough losses to top-10 teams in March be a sign that the Bears are ready to make some noise in March Madness after missing last year’s tournament?

Baylor split its two games against SEC teams during the regular season while Mississippi State’s only matchup with a Big 12 team was a win over Utah. Keep that in mind when making March Madness bets.

The college basketball odds list Mississippi State as the 1-point favorite with -120 odds to win outright. Baylor is at even money to pull off the upset.

  • Baylor +1 ATS

This is a difficult Baylor team to figure out. The Bears were good enough to beat Kansas by 11 points, but just a few weeks later, they dropped back-to-back games to Colorado and Cincinnati.

They have been playing pretty well in March with highly touted freshman VJ Edgecombe and Norchad Omier leading the way. Baylor has a chance to prove there were reasons for those impressive odds to win March Madness odds at the start of the season.

Baylor has not performed well against the college basketball lines as a favorite this season. However, Mississippi State is 12-14 ATS as a favorite.

This game could easily be decided in the final possession or two. We’ll take Baylor to move on in our college basketball picks.

Bet on Baylor ATS +1

  • Baylor vs Mississippi State Over/Under Pick

Both Baylor and Mississippi State are in the top 25 in offensive efficiency according to the Pomeroy basketball database. That could factor into the March Madness predictions.

Mississippi State saw nearly 60% of its games land over the total while Baylor also had more games land over than land under. I don’t think this is going to be an offensive masterpiece, but the -110 odds to go over 144.5 points is sure to attract plenty of attention in the NCAAB expert picks.

Bet Baylor vs Mississippi State game over 144.5

  • Cameron Matthews Player Prop Pick

Mississippi State senior forward Cameron Matthews doesn’t always pile up the points, but he is still somebody to keep an eye on when making college basketball player prop picks.

Matthews has combined for at least 10 rebounds and assists in 19 games this season. He didn’t do much offensively in the two SEC tournament games. However, Matthews had 12 and 13 points in his final two NCAA basketball games in the regular season.

When it comes to the March Madness picks, I like the -115 odds for Matthews to have at least 17 combined points, rebounds and assists.

Bet Cameron Matthews to have 17+ Points, Rebounds and Assists (-115)

  • Game Prop Pick: Neither Team Leading by 12.5 Points (+116)

This could be a tight affair with a pair of teams that can be inconsistent at times. It is hard to see one of them taking control and rolling to a double-digit point victory.

The college basketball odds are at +116 for neither team to lead by more than 12.5 points and I like that as a game prop bet to consider.

Bet that neither Baylor nor Mississippi State lead by at least 12.5 points (+116)
