Matchup of Big East, Big Ten Foes
Teams Look to Remain Undefeated
Power conference teams will meet when the Marquette Golden Eagles meet the Purdue Boilermakers on Tuesday.
Both teams have started the season undefeated after having played some lower-level opponents.

Marquette, of the Big East, is 2-0 after wins over Radford and Central Michigan while Purdue, out of the Big Ten, has defeated Milwaukee and Austin Peay.
The Golden Eagles finished sixth in the Big East last season with a 19-13 overall record and the Boilermakers were third in the Big Ten, closing with a 29-8 record.
Let’s check the latest NCAA basketball odds, stats, and injury reports for Marquette vs Purdue.
Marquette Bounces Back
Marquette began its season 2-0,but the Golden Eagles got out to a slow start in their first game.
Though Marquette was a big favorite in its season opener, the Golden Eagles struggled in a 79-69 win over Radford.
The Golden Eagles bounced back in their second win, defeating Central Michigan 97-73.
Marquette’s leading and second-leading scorers from a season ago moved onto the pros, but David Joplin took over the scoring for the Golden Eagles in their second win, scoring 23 points.
The Golden Eagles had five players score in double figures, shooting 53% from the field and hitting 13 3-pointers.
Marquette was also solid on defense against Central Michigan, recording 13 steals and forcing the Chippewas to turn it over 22 times.
The Golden Eagles will need a more well-balanced offense and strong defense when they visit a strong Purdue team.
Purdue Stays Strong
The Boilermakers have also gotten out to a hot start, winning their first two games 84-53 and 63-44.
Big man Jaden Ivey departed Purdue as a lottery pick in the offseason, but 7-foot-4 junior Zach Edey remains.
Edey, an All-Big Ten preseason pick, led the way for the Boilermakers in their second win, scoring 30 points and bringing in 11 rebounds. He was 12 of 13 from the field.
Despite Edey’s strong play, the rest of Purdue struggled, with the Boilermakers finishing 2 of 19 from three and no other players scoring in double digits.
Freshman Fletcher Loyer and sophomore Brandon Newman each contributed in Purdue’s season opener, scoring 17 and 16 points. However, both were limited in game two, scoring five each.
Purdue will once again look to Edey to lead the way, but against a stronger Marquette team, the Boilermakers may need more from other scorers.

Marquette vs Purdue Picks & Prediction
Although both teams are undefeated, neither has played a strong opponent. Both Marquette and Purdue will be getting their first tests when the two meet.
The Golden Eagles have averaged more points in their first two games than the Boilermakers, but Purdue has held opponents to fewer points.
Edey will be tough for the Golden Eagles to stop, though Purdue hasn’t been able to find many scorers outside of him. With Purdue hosting, the Boilermakers should remain undefeated, but take the Eagles to cover.
