Seminoles Going After 10th Straight Against Rival Hurricanes
Miami Looks to Bounce Back
Lopsided series are not uncommon in major college basketball. However, considering where the programs are and have been, it is hard to understand how Florida State has won nine in a row against the Hurricanes.
Florida State has dropped four of its last five games. However, the Seminoles made ranked teams Purdue and Virginia work for victories earlier this season. Each of Miami’s last three games have been decided by four points or less with the Hurricanes losing two of those matchups.

Miami won its first three games decided by three points or less, including a huge victory against Virginia, but has dropped its last two outings that finished as one-possession games. Florida State has won its only game decided by one score.
Miami ranks 21st nationally in free throw percentage and is also in the top 50 in field goal percentage. An issue for Florida State has been rebounding as the Seminoles are near the bottom of the Division I stats in total rebounds and defensive rebounds.
Leading scorer Isaiah Wong is dealing with a sinus infection for Miami and he is questionable. It would be a huge loss if he can’t play as Wong averaged 21 points in his last five games against Florida State.
For the Seminoles, fourth-leading scorer Cam’Ron Fletcher is out for the rest of the season with a knee injury.
Miami fell three spots to No. 19 in the coaches’ poll and No. 20 in the Associated Press Top 25 poll.
According to the college basketball odds, Miami (+7000) is tied for 27th in the odds to win the national title. Miami (+800) is tied for third in the odds to win the ACC title. Florida State is well back at +25000.

Trying to Find Their Range
Miami had no problem connecting on 3-pointers in the two-point loss to Duke as the Hurricanes were 10 of 21 from distance. However, they finished just 12 of 42 inside the 3-point line.
It was not a one-game issue, either. If not for the Hurricanes outscoring Syracuse 25-14 at the foul line, Miami could very easily be taking a three-game losing streak into the matchup with the Seminoles.
Getting the offense rolling won’t be any easier if Wong is unable to play or is limited.
Getting the ball into the hands of Norchad Omier might be a good place to start considering that the Hurricanes are 6-2 when he has at least 10 field goal attempts.
Another good sign is that Nijel Pack is 9 of 18 from 3-point range over the last two games.

Miami has covered against the Las Vegas odds in five of its last seven games as well as in eight of the last 10 meetings against ACC squads.
Seminoles Going Green
Florida State might have found its go-to offensive player.
Junior guard Darin Green has been a little up and down on the offensive line at times. However, he is coming off back-to-back 20-point games in wins over Notre Dame and Pittsburgh.
When Green faced Miami last season as a member of the UCF Knights, he went off for 23 points and was 5 of 9 from 3-point range in a six-point win. This season, he is averaging 21.3 points in four games against ranked opponents.
Florida State has covered against the college basketball betting lines in each of its last seven home games.

Miami vs Florida State Picks & Prediction
Miami should be ready to go after letting one get away the last time out against Duke. Even though the roster has gone through some changes since last season, the veteran Miami players certainly must be sick of losing to Florida State.
The total has gone under in six of Miami’s last seven games on the road. With Miami third in the ACC in scoring offense and only Louisville allowing more points per game than FSU, this game could be headed in that direction as well.
Miami is 4-1-1 against the spread on the road this season while Florida State has covered in seven of its 10 games at home. The status of Wong could alter this game so that is worth monitoring. Miami head coach Jim Larranaga said that Wong is feeling better so perhaps he will not only play, but get back to shooting the ball better after missing 16 of 19 shots in the last two games.
Miami is 14-1 when listed by the sportsbook as a favorite while Florida State is only 3-9 as the underdog.
The teams are a combined 16-21-1 against the spread.
Miami is listed at -155 in our Las Vegas college basketball lines. This means that if you wager $100 on the Hurricanes, you have a chance to win $65. Florida State is +135, offering a chance to win $135 on a $100 wager.
The implied probability attached to the betting lines gives Miami a 60.78% chance to win, with Florida State at 42.55%.
