NC State Fights Back After First ACC Win
The NC State Wolfpack lost their first two ACC games this season and were having trouble at home with Louisville, leading by just three points at halftime on Dec. 22. But after halftime, the Wolfpack outscored the Cardinals by nine to win easily and notched their first conference victory.
“Coach (Kevin Keatts) came in at halftime and let us have it,” NC State forward D.J. Burns Jr. said after the win over Louisville. “When we come in lacking energy or not doing the things we’re supposed to, he’s going to call it out. He’s going to look you in the eyes and say, ‘Play better for me.’ That man always lays it out for us and we wanted to give it back for him.”
Burns finished with a team-high 17 points as the Wolfpack had all five starters score in double figures. Burns is averaging 9.4 points and 4.6 rebounds this season but has scored 16 or more points in three of the last four contests.
Sophomore guard Terquavion Smith leads the Wolfpack with 17.9 points and 5.4 assists per contest. Smith is also playing well on the defensive end of the floor, recording 1.9 steals per game.
Clemson Keeps Rolling Behind Hall
The Clemson Tigers have gotten off to a great start to the 2022-23 campaign, winning their first two ACC contests and coming into Friday having won six of their last seven games. The Tigers went into the Christmas break on a high note thanks to the play of center PJ Hall, who had 25 points and 10 rebounds in a win over Georgia Tech on Dec. 21.

Junior guard Chase Hunter leads the Clemson offense with 14.8 points and 4.8 assists per contest. Hunter is hitting 46.4% on his 3-point attempts this season, though he went 0-for-3 from beyond the arc in the win over Georgia Tech.
Senior forward Hunter Tyson is also a dangerous player for the Tigers, averaging 14.5 points and a team-best 9.3 rebounds. Tyson also had a double-double against Georgia Tech, finishing with 14 points and 13 rebounds.
