3 Oklahoma vs Michigan Picks: Best ML, ATS, Over/Under Bets

1. Oklahoma vs Michigan Under 150½

Both teams have solid albeit unspectacular offenses, leaving doubt whether they will exceed the 150-point mark set by the college basketball oddsmakers. While Michigan had gone four straight games staying under that number, it has far exceeded that in its last two, including a straight-up loss against Arkansas, snapping a seven-game win streak. In those two games, opponents have shot better than 40% from the floor, with Arkansas connecting on half its attempts.

Oklahoma shoots well from the field, at a 47% clip, exceeding 49-percent in each of the last two games. Even with those strong numbers, the Sooners narrowly stayed under 151 points.

Both teams are toward the bottom of the nation in defensive rebounding, opening the door for lots of second-chance points. That said, we will stick with the recent trends for both teams and predict that the score will stay under 151 points.

2. Michigan ML

Oklahoma’s early season run has been nothing short of shocking, as the Sooners were predicted to finish second-to-last in the SEC preseason coaches’ poll in their first year in the conference. They backed this up by winning the Battle 4 Atlantis, highlighted by a win against Arizona. Senior wing Jalon Moore has taken a massive leap and leads the team with 17 points per contest while shooting 50% from the floor. Freshman guard Jeremiah Fears has hit the ground running, reaching double figures in every game and averaging nearly 18 points in seven games since being inserted in the starting lineup.

Michigan does not have anyone putting up those kinds of scoring numbers but all five starters average between nine and 13 points. Florida Atlantic transfer Vladislav Goldin, one of 11 new players, leads the way with 12.5 points, while Tre Donaldson and Nimari Burnett shoot the 3-ball better than 44%. A key to victory for Dusty May’s squad is taking care of the basketball, as they sit 352nd of 364 Division I teams in turnovers at more than 15 per game. This played a huge part in the loss to Arkansas.

While Oklahoma’s undefeated start has been a nice story, the Sooners are not nearly as battle-tested as the Wolverines, and our NCAAB prediction is that they will lose their first game of the season.

3. Michigan -3½

While Oklahoma is perfect on the season, they are only 6-4 against the college basketball spread. That said, they are 4-1 against major conference teams. Michigan, on the other hand, has lost two straight games against the spread while being favored. But they are off to a hot start in Big Ten play, including an outright and ATS win against Wisconsin. We think the Wolverines will be more to handle than any team the Sooners have faced this year. Should they take care of the ball, they should cover the three-point spread, with odds currently sitting at even money in the BetUS Sportsbook, providing greater value than usual.
