Will Ducks Upset Wildcats Again?

After beating them soundly a couple of weeks back, the Oregon Ducks have another chance to embarrass their Pac-12 rivals, the No. 5 Arizona Wildcats. It’s unusual for a top-10 team to lose to an unranked opponent. It’s even rarer when the underdogs beat the stuffing out of the favorite by 19 points.

Let’s check the latest college basketball news, stats, injury reports, and college basketball lines for Oregon vs Arizona. We’ve got plenty of NCAA basketball picks for you to consider.

Can Lightning Strike Twice?

The Oregon Ducks aren’t a bad team and rank fifth in the Pac-12 at 7-4. However, seeing them completely dismantle Arizona when they last met a few weeks back was still a shock. That win lit something under this team, and the Ducks have won three of their last four games since.

While the Ducks don’t have the best against the spread (ATS) record at 11-10-1, they are at least profitable. The same cannot be said for the Wildcats at 9-11-2 with a -12.78% return on investment (ROI).

The numbers tell a different story when we highlight Oregon’s ATS record on the road. In their previous five away games, the Ducks are 3-2 ATS with an ROI of +14.55. In their last three, they are 2-1.

The Ducks’ success against the Wildcats comes down to their big men. Aizona’s two bigs, Oumar Ballo and Azuolas Tubelis, are a tough combo for most teams to handle. However, with Nate Bittle, N’Faly Dante and Kal’el Ward on the court, the Ducks outrebounded the Wildcats 42-32 in their last game.

Wildcats Out for Revenge

The Arizona Wildcats will be hungry for revenge on Thursday after a genuinely embarrassing loss to an unranked Oregon Ducks team on Jan. 14. The Wildcats, who shot just 37.5% from the floor, were outrebounded by double digits and at one point trailed Oregon by 21.

The loss was made even more shocking after the Wildcats lost to another unranked division opponent two games prior with a 74-61 disaster against Washington State.

The Wildcats got revenge on the Cougars 63-58 last week, though they failed to cover as -5½ favorites. However, they are 3-1 ATS in their previous four games, including a 23-point annihilation of Washington on Saturday.

While the Wildcats are a much better team on paper, eight points is a lot of ground to cover against a team you recently got destroyed by. I’m not going to call for another outright upset, but an ATS win for the Ducks is our best bet for Thursday night.
