Oregon Ducks

The Oregon roster is not equipped with the resources needed to help Dana Altman compete at the highest level.

Oregon’s coach is known for being savvy in managing a roster, but this is a huge challenge because of all the injuries Oregon faces. Keeshawn Barthelemy and Jermaine Couisnard are just some of the players on the shelf for the Ducks.

Without those backcourt performers, Will Richardson and Quincy Guerrier – the two players the Ducks rely on for backcourt and wing scoring production – are easier to defend.

Defenses can focus on them and dare the other Ducks beat them. Oregon’s offense has limped through this season. That’s why UC Irvine, Houston, Michigan State, and Connecticut have all been able to defeat the Ducks in November.

UCLA Bruins

The Bruins are 6-2, but their two losses came in the two most important games of their season thus far, to Illinois and Baylor.

The Bruins do not yet have a high-end win on their resume, which they need to build up if they want an especially high seed in the NCAA Tournament.

UCLA has veteran players on its roster who came back with the specific goal of winning a national championship this season.

Losing to both Illinois and Baylor was a setback because it will put the Bruins behind those two teams (and others) in the battle for a high seed.

Baylor lost at Marquette, too, so Baylor’s ranking won’t be as great. That hurts UCLA’s profile even more.

This team needs to get on a roll fairly soon and establish itself as the team to beat in the Pac-12. Currently, Arizona is that team.

The Bruins need to change how people think of them as they hit the hardwood against Oregon.

Oregon vs UCLA Picks & Prediction

The Oregon roster is noticeably shorthanded due to injuries, which is why they’re a sizable dog in the sportsbook.

It is worth noting that Keeshawn Barthelemy and Jermaine Couisnard are two transfers who were supposed to be high-impact players for this team.

With both of them out, it’s really hard to see how the Ducks are going to be able to keep pace with UCLA’s veteran lineup and the Bruins’ proven players. Take the Bruins with your college basketball picks.
