West Virginia Going After Another Ranked Win
Longhorns Eager to Bounce Back
West Virginia is coming off a win over a ranked Texas Christian team. Will the Mountaineers do it again? Texas lost to Iowa State last time out so the Longhorns should have a little extra bounce in their steps.
West Virginia and Texas lead the Big 12 with 66.7% of their games going over the total.

Nine of West Virginia’s 11 wins have come at home.
Texas ranks in the top 30 in points and assists per game as well as field-goal percentage.
There’s not much in the way of injuries for either team to deal with heading into this matchup.
Texas jumped three spots to No. 7 in both the Associated Press Top 25 poll and coaches’ poll.
According to the college basketball odds, Texas (+2000) is tied for eighth in the odds to win the national title.

Longhorns Shooting Blanks
Texas currently leads the Big 12 in both scoring offense and scoring margin. The ability to connect from the perimeter is not what got the Longhorns to the top of the charts. Still, there are some concerns when it comes to the numbers from distance in the last two games.
Texas is 12 of 45 on 3-pointers in the last two games. The Longhorns survived with a two-point win against Texas Tech. However, the shooting woes caught up to a 78-67 loss at Iowa State.
Tyrese Hunter was 2 of 6 on 3-pointers in the Iowa State game and the rest of the team went 2 of 11.

The good news is that leading scorer Marcus Carr shoots 47.1% on 3-pointers on the road and Brock Cunningham is another player with better splits on the road than at home.
Texas has covered against the Las Vegas odds in just one of its last seven games as well as in four of the last five road games.
Ready to Strike Again
Don’t be fooled by the fact that West Virginia opened conference play with five straight losses before stunning nationally ranked Texas Christian on Wednesday.
The Mountaineers narrowly missed beating Oklahoma in the previous game, gave Baylor quite the tussle before falling by five points and led at Oklahoma State with 7:20 to play before falling late.
When West Virginia struggles, it usually comes on the defensive end. Even in the win against TCU, the Horned Frogs shot 52% from the field.
Some of the issues could result from the fact that the top four scorers played on other teams a season ago and that includes Tre Mitchell, who was the fifth-leading scorer for Texas during the 2021-22 season. As the players get more comfortable playing together, this West Virginia team becomes more dangerous.
West Virginia has covered against the college basketball betting lines in two of its last eight games.
Texas vs West Virginia Game Injuries

Texas has won seven of the last nine games against West Virginia and that included a sweep of the two games played last season.
Three of the last four meetings have been decided by two points or less with each of those contests going over the total.
The Longhorns have won three of the last four meetings in Morgantown with none as entertaining as the most recent matchup which was won by Texas 82-81 on Feb. 26 as a Marcus Carr layup with 1:10 remaining provided the winning points.

Texas vs West Virginia Picks & Prediction
The No. 1 scoring team in the Big 12 facing the squad ranked ninth out of 10 conference teams in scoring defense would seem like an easy game to predict? However, it has been a topsy-turvy ride for Texas following the suspension and then firing of head coach Chris Beard. That has resulted in the Longhorns entering this matchup as the slight underdog.
Look for a more dialed-in Texas team than the one that fell to Iowa State the last time out. However, West Virginia does shoot more free throws and send its opponents to the line more often than any other Big 12 team so this will be a physical affair.
Texas has lost its only other game this season when listed by the sportsbook as the underdog while West Virginia is 10-1 as a favorite.
Six of West Virginia’s first 10 games finished over the total. However, Iowa State thrived by limiting the possessions when the Cyclones took down the Longhorns and West Virginia would be well advised not to get into a track meet with a more talented Texas team.
Texas is listed at +100 in our Las Vegas college basketball lines. This means that if you wager $100 on the Longhorns, you have a chance to win $100. West Virginia is -120, offering a chance to win $83 on a $100 wager.
The implied probability attached to the betting lines gives Texas a 50.00% chance to win, with West Virginia at 54.55%.
