UConn Going After 15th Straight Win Against DePaul
It has been a struggle for UConn to win on the road recently. Can a trip to the Windy City to face DePaul change all of that? This is just the second time since the start of the 2017-18 season that the Huskies are a double-digit favorite on the road. The last time it happened came against Georgetown last season. UConn won the game by nine but failed to cover as 11-point favorites.
Seven of DePaul’s nine wins this season have come at home. The Blue Demons would move within a game of UConn in the Big East standings with a win.
UConn is ranked in the top 20 nationally in offensive rebounding and assists per game. DePaul struggles in the rebounding department. However, the Blue Demons are one of the best free-throw shooting teams in the country.
An illness has sidelined DePaul guard Jalen Terry for the last four games and he is questionable. With Amamad Bynum (suspension) already out, that could leave DePaul without two of its 10 players averaging more than 10 minutes per game.
Samson Johnson had nine points and five rebounds in the two games since returning to action for UConn so perhaps this is the game where he gets going.
UConn was ranked second in both national polls just five weeks ago. The Huskies are down to No. 24 in the Associated Press Top 25 poll and tied for 23rd in the coaches’ poll.
According to the college basketball odds, UConn (+550) is tied for ninth in the odds to reach the Final Four.

Cure to the Road Woes
UConn is heading into the Tuesday night showdown on a four-game losing streak on the road.
Playing DePaul could be just what the doctor ordered for the stumbling Huskies. UConn has had no issues winning at DePaul even with lesser talented teams than the current squad.
The good news is that Adama Sanogo, UConn’s top scorer, has almost identical scoring numbers at home and on the road. However, the same can’t be said for some of his teammates.
Jordan Hawkins is connecting on 37.8% of his 3-pointers on the road compared to 43.8% at home. Freshman Alex Karaban is averaging 8.6 points on the road and 10.6 at home.

UConn has covered against the college basketball betting lines in just two of its last 10 games and in two of its last 12 road games.
DePaul Reeling a Bit
The one thing no Big East team wanted was to be the team where Georgetown’s Big East-record losing streak came to an end.
Unfortunately for the Blue Demons, that is exactly what happened when DePaul headed to Washington, D.C., last week. When the Blue Demons returned home, things didn’t get much better.
Marquette connected on 54% of its shots and drained 15 3-pointers in a 20-point win. DePaul is second in the Big East in 3-point percentage defense, and the Blue Demons will seek to limit the perimeter looks for a UConn team that leads the Big East with 201 attempted 3-pointers.
Four of DePaul’s last six games and four of the previous five versus UConn have gone under the Las Vegas odds total.

UConn vs DePaul Picks and Prediction

UConn has covered in just two of the six road games with four of those six affairs finishing under the total.
DePaul is allowing 77 points per game in league play and has a -7.2 scoring margin. The Blue Demons have struggled to defend the 3-pointer and that could spell trouble against a UConn team that loves to fire it up from the perimeter. No number stands out more than DePaul having a -8.1 rebounding margin in Big East play.
