The surprise was how easy it looked for both teams in the Final Four against top-flight competition.

I’m not exactly going out on a limb by suggesting that this March Madness matchup will be more competitive than UConn’s eye-opening 87-58 win in February that snapped the Gamecocks’ 71-game home winning streak.

My Analysis

It is pretty scary that UConn led No. 1 overall tournament seed UCLA by 20 points before Huskies resident superstar Paige Bueckers got it going offensively. South Carolina fell behind early in its fourth meeting of the season against Texas before foul trouble to Longhorns star Madison Booker helped flip the script.

The future of the women’s college game could be on display as freshmen stars Sarah Strong of UConn and Joyce Edwards of South Carolina were the leading scorers for their teams on Friday night. Both are solid prop options for those considering March Madness expert picks.
