Vanderbilt a Double-Digit Underdog
This might not be the best time for Vanderbilt to be rolling into Tuscaloosa since Alabama is coming off a 24-point loss to Oklahoma.
The 11 points scored by freshman Brandon Miller are the fewest against a team from the Power-5 conferences so he figures to be more involved in this one.
Alabama and Vanderbilt rank first and third in the SEC in attempted 3-pointers so shots will be flying from downtown in this matchup.
Forward Lee Dort and guard Miles Keeffe are both out for Vanderbilt. They have combined to miss 25 games this season.
Alabama recently got guard Nimari Burnett back after he underwent wrist surgery. He played 13 minutes in the loss to Oklahoma.
Alabama dropped from No. 2 to No. 4 in the Associated Press Top 25 poll and went from second to fifth in the coaches’ poll.
According to the college basketball odds, Alabama (+250) is tied for second in the odds to reach the Final Four. Wake Forest is well back at +6600. Alabama (-240) has the best odds to win the SEC title.

Commodores Off Target
The shooting numbers were pretty ugly the last time that Vanderbilt squared off with Alabama.
The Commodores made just 30.1% of its shots and missed 27 of the 33 3-pointers in a 12-point loss at home.
After bouncing back by beating Georgia, the offensive woes continued as Vanderbilt shot 36% from the field and only slightly better on 3-pointers in losses to Kentucky and Texas A&M.
A bright spot was provided off the bench by Myles Stute as he had seven 3-pointers and 22 points against Texas A&M. However, in the last three games following a double-digit scoring performance, Stute had a total of 10 points on 3-of-19 shooting.
Vanderbilt has covered against the college basketball betting lines in five of its last seven games as well as in eight of the previous nine road games.
Crimson Tide Trying to Shake Off Rout
This will be the perfect opportunity for Alabama to get some of its mojo back after a disastrous defensive effort in Saturday’s loss to unranked Oklahoma.
The Sooners were 9 of 13 on 3-pointers, shooting 57.6% from the field and 16 of 19 from the line in a stunning 93-69 upset of Alabama. The final margin was all the more shocking considering that the Crimson Tide was +9 in the offensive rebounding department.
Alabama didn’t jump into the top five in the national polls by accident, and facing a Vanderbilt team that is 10th in the SEC in field goal percentage and is eighth in scoring offense could be just what the Crimson Tide need.
Since the teams played just two weeks ago, the defensive game plan shouldn’t need to be tweaked too much. The offense will once again be focused on Miller.
Big time bucket from B-Mill! 👌
