Visiting Cowboys Trying to Find Road to NCAAs
Wyoming: Road Goes Through Vegas
The Mountain West Conference tournament will be held in the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas. Wyoming has to play and win a regular-season game in the same building on Wednesday before returning to Vegas next week at tournament time.
The Cowboys will need to win multiple games in that arena to make the NCAA Tournament and be a factor for the March Madness odds. This is the first test.

Let’s take a closer look at this matchup for those who bet online and determine what’s the best choice in the sportsbook.

Wyoming Squarely on NCAA Tournament Bubble
This is a must-win for Wyoming, which has lost three of its last five games after starting the season 21-3.
The Cowboys suffered an upset loss at New Mexico and fell to Colorado State a week ago before losing at home on Monday to San Diego State to fall closer to the NCAA Tournament cut line. Wyoming has to stop the bleeding.
The Cowboys’ offense averaged under 61 points in the two recent losses to New Mexico and Colorado State. Wyoming’s defense was gashed for 44 first-half points against San Diego State on Monday.
The Cowboys couldn’t overcome a seven-point halftime deficit and slid closer to NCAA Tournament uncertainty.
Jeff Linder is viewed as a promising young coach, but he needs to steady his team late in the season in order to continue to boost his stock.
UNLV Reliant on Hamilton
As a team, UNLV isn’t especially good, but the Runnin’ Rebels do have Bryce Hamilton, an elite scorer who averages 22 points on 44 percent shooting.
Keep in mind that a player who averages 44 percent shooting and takes lots of 3-pointers is setting a very high standard, given the number of low-percentage shots he takes.
Hamilton can play with anyone in the country. UNLV just doesn’t have the supporting cast to surround him. That’s where the Rebels have fallen short and where coach Kevin Kruger needs to build the program in the coming offseason.
UNLV has been playing better in February than it did in January. The Rebels completed a sweep of Colorado State while also scoring road wins at Fresno State and Nevada.
This team is evolving, but it took a few months for the Rebels to finally find their stride. As is, they are 9-7 in the Mountain West, which leaves them out of the NCAA Tournament conversation.
Wyoming vs UNLV Head-to-Head
These two teams have not met this season. UNLV’s most recent game was a home loss to Boise State on Saturday night, while Wyoming is coming off the loss to San Diego State.

Wyoming at UNLV Prediction
Wyoming did just absorb a tough loss, but there’s no time to worry about that. The Cowboys need to turn the page and handle UNLV to stay on the right side of the NCAA Tournament bubble.
This team faces March pressure and will need to play through late-season fatigue. It’s anybody’s game to win, but the belief here is that Wyoming will find a way to escape Vegas with a win.
