Rutgers Good Bet vs Miami in Pinstripe Bowl

Rutgers could be one of the best college football bets today when they meet a depleted Miami team in the Pinstripe Bowl on Thursday at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, N.Y.

The Scarlet Knights should be pumped up playing close to home with a chance to win their first postseason game since beating North Carolina at the 2014 Quick LaneBowl. Rutgers is expected to have most of its key players from a scoring defense ranking 29th in the nation.

Miami will be without several players who either opted out or went into the transfer portal. The most important is quarterback Tyler Van Dyke, who transferred to Wisconsin. Third-stringer Jacurri Brown will start despite not playing a down during the regular season.

Quarterback Gavin Wimsatt and running back Kyle Monangai have rushed for a combined 1,587 yards and 16 TDs to lead Rutgers. All-ACC receiver Xavier Restrepo caught 74 passes for 993 yards to lead the Hurricanes.

Miami lost three of its final four games in the regular season while the Scarlet Knights dropped their last four contests – three of which were against teams ranked in the top 17 in the final college football rankings if you bet online.

The defenses could have the advantage in this one and that may lead to a scoreless first seven minutes.

Pinstripe Bowl Prediction

Rutgers 20, Miami 16: The Hurricanes could get big plays from Restrepo and fellow receiver Jacolby George if Brown – pushed into duty because of freshman Emory Williams’ injury – comes up big in his season debut. But we think the Knights will want this one a bit more and squeeze out a win with more of its key players in the game.
