ACC Futures Odds: Bet Miami to Strike, North Carolina to Surprise

  • Miami may be the best NCAAF bet to top perennial powers Clemson and Florida State in the expanded ACC this season.
  • North Carolina junior Omarion Hampton rushed for 1,504 yards and 15 touchdowns last season for the 8-5 Tar Heels.
  • Bet ACC Futures at BetUS.com sportsbook!

Perennial favorites Florida State and Clemson are among most college football expert picks to win the ACC title, but the team that is farthest south could be the best bet.

Miami could be ready to win its first ACC title with some talented transfers and several key players back in the trenches. You are not getting a ton of value for the Hurricanes to win it (+400). However, a bet on them to go over 9 ½ regular-season wins is decent (+130).

Florida State and Clemson are also both set at 9 ½ wins while North Carolina State could be over-valued at 8 ½ and North Carolina under-valued at 7 ½.

Stanford and California are coming across the country from the Pac-12 to join the ACC and have different expectations. The Cardinal are the longshot to win it at +50000 in the college football odds while Cal is +5000 and is expected to reach a bowl.

Florida State’s schedule is ranked as one of the toughest, including trips to Miami, Notre Dame and SMU. If the Seminoles can get through that gauntlet, a bet for them to win the national title at +3000 does not look so bad.

3 ACC Betting Tips for 2024

1. Miami Hurricanes Must Deal With Expectations

Coach Mario Cristobal has not exactly burst on the scene at Miami his first two seasons, going 12-13 with one loss in a bowl game.

The former Oregon coach did some mighty strong work in the offseason, though, adding plenty of talent in the transfer portal. Quarterback Cam Ward leads the way after throwing for 3,735 yards and 25 touchdowns at Washington State last season.

Damien Martinez, who recorded 2,155 yards rushing yards and 16 scores at Oregon State the last two years, gives Miami its best running back in quite some time. Samuel Brown also presents a top target for Ward after hauling in 62 passes for Houston in 2023.

Those three join many other transfers who will team with returning standouts on both sides of the ball to make the Hurricanes a strong bet online to win the league.

2. Don’t Fade UNC Tar Heels After Stars Leave

Drake Maye and Tez Walker are in the NFL, but if North Carolina can get some competent quarterback play it could be a sneaky good bet at the BetUS sportsbook.

Maye, currently with the New England Patriots, threw for 24 TDs in 2023. Transfers Max Johnson and Jacolby Criswell are battling returnee Conner Harrell to replace him. The Heels do have a decent corps of receivers in J.J. Jones, Nate McCollum and Kobe Paysour.

But the biggest reasons why the Tar Heels can top the set number of 7 ½ wins is a manageable schedule and one of the nation’s top running backs in Omarion Hampton. The junior ran for 1,504 yards and 15 TDs last season.

North Carolina’s defense might not be too bad either, led by linebacker Power Echols and Kaimon Rucker (8 ½ sacks). It’s not going to be easy, but if coach Mack Brown can put the pieces together, the Heels may go to Florida State 8-0 on Nov. 2.

3. Bet Over on Wins for Duke, Wake Forest

The college football predictions are not rosy for Duke and Wake Forest this season.

While we don’t think either team will compete for a spot in the ACC title game, the Blue Devils and Demon Deacons could have enough to go bowling against the odds.

Duke’s number is 5 ½ wins for first-year coach Manny Diaz, but there is a chance the Blue Devils can score some points with key returnees like RB Jaquez Moore and WR Jordan Moore. Much will depend on whether Duke can stop anyone, though the schedule is not overly difficult.

Wake Forest is set at just 4 ½ wins and veteran quarterback Hank Bachmeier could help a decent offense that includes RB Demond Claiborne and WR Taylor Morin. Bachmeier threw for 3,079 yards at Boise State in 2021 and 2,058 at Louisiana Tech last year.

We would make a college football bet on Wake and Duke to go over their win total. We would lean toward the under on transfer-laden N.C. State (8 ½) and Boston College (5)
