Baker Mayfield Weighs In On The Ohio-Michigan Brawl
Baker Mayfield Shares His Thoughts on the Ohio-Michigan Brawl and the Controversy of Flag Planting in CFB
Ohio Stadium Turned into a Battlefield
It is flag-planting SZN in the college football world which has also created some NFL news. You may remember that Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield popularized the troll move in 2017 after planting the Oklahoma flag after a big win over Ohio State.
The funny thing is that Ohio State is not even a rival of Oklahoma. Now, the move is being mimicked after rivalry matchups. Regardless, Mayfield has strong thoughts on the chatter of banning flag planting.
“College football is meant to have rivalries,” Mayfield said, per ESPN’s Jenna Laine. “That’s like the Big 12 banning the ‘horns down’ signal. Just let the boys play.”
Baker Mayfield was asked about the four flag planting incidents during college rivalry weekend. It was something he did at Ohio State in 2017. “College football is meant to have rivalries. That’s like the Big 12 banning the ‘horns down’ signal. Just let the boys play.” pic.twitter.com/XCLmjvUrDQ

Should College Football Ban Flag Planting?
Mayfield will continue to play NFL games as college football commissioners face a decision about potential rule changes regarding flag planting. SEC commissioner Greg Sankey made some bizarre comments about the move.
“There shouldn’t be flag-planting,” Sankey said, per Athlon Sports. “Go win the game and go to the locker room. If you want to plant a flag, you play ‘capture the flag’ or you join the military or you fly to the moon.”
It has become a major topic of discussion after things turned ugly between Ohio State and Michigan. We also saw several other rivalry matchups end in a similar fashion.
Is Flag Planting Worth Someone Getting Injured?
There are pros and cons to making a potential rule about this gesture. On one hand, it seems a bit silly, but the viral clips show players getting physical with staff members. It does feel a bit dangerous for athletes to be fighting non-players.

It is also reasonable for CFB teams to want to defend their field and not be disrespected. Yet, certain things go together in sports like college football betting picks and rivalry games.
The last thing the NCAA needs is another rule. Yet, the current trajectory has people in danger of being seriously hurt.
