Picking a winner in our odds to win the MAC Conference may feel a bit like lighting your money on fire. Yet, there is some value in the middle of the conference if viewed more as a lottery ticket than a sure thing. MACtion gonna MACtion with the season sure to be full of plenty of twists and turns.

Fans may be surprised to learn that perennial MAC contender Toledo is not the favorite. Miami of Ohio sits at a +220 NCAA football betting line ahead of the Rockets who are second at +280.

Down the line, Bowling Green (+650), Northern Illinois (+650) and Western Michigan (+750) are all gunning for these top two teams. Don’t look past Ohio (+900) who is also bunched with this second group at BetUs sportsbook.

Odds to Win MAC Conference: Teams to Fade and One to Bet

Miami Stands Good Chance to be Back-to-Back MAC Champs

When staring at this list, you are looking for a reason to ride with one of these squads. With the transfer portal and the top coaches being candidates for Big Four gigs, it has become nearly impossible for MAC teams to have continuity.

Miami accomplished the rare feat of being the defending MAC champs while also returning a good portion of their core. Talk about consistency, head coach Chuck Martin is heading into his 11th season with the Redhawks.

Martin will lean on quarterback Brett Gabbert and a veteran offensive line that is also returning. These are still too short of odds for me to back Miami to win the MAC.

Jason Candle Gives Toledo a Chance to Overcome Roster Turnover

As long as Jason Candle is the head coach at Toledo, it is going to be hard to bet against the Rockets heading into the regular season.

The challenge is Akron is replacing quarterback Dequann Finn (Baylor) and Peny Boone (UCF) who hit the transfer portal. The Rockets will also have a revamped offensive line.

Even for Candle, there may be too many question marks to realistically win the MAC in 2024, so I’m fading Toledo in my 2024 college football predictions.

Central Michigan Has Underachieved With Jim McElwain

College football betting fans will remember Jim McElwain from his time at Florida. The veteran head coach has been unable to work his magic in the MAC with Central Michigan mostly being a middle of the pack team each season.

Don’t take my word for it as the oddsmakers are showing little faith in McElwain’s crew. Central Michigan is well done in the odds at +1800.

Bowling Green’s Defense and Veteran Roster Could Win MAC

I mentioned how betting on the MAC conference makes me feel uneasy. If there is someone worth taking a flier on, it is Bowling Green.

The Falcons win in a different way than a traditional MAC team leaning on a stout defense that gets to the quarterback. Bowling Green returns quarterback Connor Bazelak who had previous stints at Missouri and Indiana.

Breakout tight end Harold Fannin Jr. also returns fresh off 44 receptions for 623 yards and 6 touchdowns in 2023. Give me Bowling Green to win the MAC at +650 in those juicy NCAA football odds.
