CFP Bracket Prediction: Why Georgia Can Win National Title
- Get the best College Football Playoff odds at BetUS.
- Will quarterback Carson Beck be healthy enough to play for Georgia in the College Football Playoff?
- Georgia is three wins away from its third national title in the last four seasons.
The Georgia Bulldogs came into the season as the No. 1 team in the BetUS college football countdown and can finish with their third national title in the last four seasons with three victories.

Georgia did lose twice during the regular season with a loss to rival Alabama and another one to Ole Miss. However, two wins over Texas, including one when listed by the college football spread as an underdog in the SEC Championship Game, gave the Bulldogs the No. 2 seed in the College Football Playoff field.
Georgia will play the winner of the Indiana/Notre Dame game in the quarterfinals at the Sugar Bowl. Boise State, Southern Methodist and Penn State the other teams in their half of the CFP bracket.
The college football futures odds have Georgia third at +500 in the odds of winning the national title followed by Texas.
4 Reasons to Bet on Georgia to Win the National Title
1. Bulldogs Have Been There, Done That
With Michigan failing to make it into the College Football Playoffs, Georgia has something none of the other 11 teams have – previous championship experience.

Some offensive players know what it takes to win it all in the College Football Playoffs.
The experience showed itself in the SEC Championship Game with a 22-19 overtime win against a favored Texas team. When it comes to the NCAA football predictions, pick against the Bulldogs at your own peril.
2. Georgia Knows How to Seal the Deal
The offensive and defensive numbers for Georgia aren’t quite as impressive as some of the recent Georgia teams. However, there is one notable exception.
Per NCAAF betting trends, Georgia has scored on 54 of the 58 drives that reached the red zone. While 12 of those drives ended in field goals, being able to come away with points on drives at this time of the season can be the difference between victory and defeat.
Georgia has also allowed touchdowns on just 19 of 40 red-zone drives by the opponents. Keep that in mind when making NCAAF picks.
3. Bulldogs Have Enough Talent for Title Run
Georgia has seen plenty of talented players head into the NFL in recent years. Tight end Brock Bowers and receiver Ladd McConkey are two of the most productive rookie pass catchers in the NFL while defensive backs Kamari Lassiter, Javon Bullard and Tykee Smith are playing key roles for teams in the running for playoff spots.
Don’t feel bad for the Bulldogs. Georgia has had a top-three recruiting class in each of the last three years so there is plenty of talent for the Bulldogs to make a run at another national title.
4. The Week Off Can Help the Bulldogs
The biggest question for Georgia right now is the status of starting quarterback Carson Beck. Beck was injured in the SEC championship game with Gunnar Stockton coming on in relief of Beck. Beck did come back into the game and handed off to running back Trevor Etienne for the winning score in overtime. Monitor NCAAF news for injury updates.
Georgia has a bye into the quarterfinals so that will give the Bulldogs time to get Stockton ready to roll if he has to take command of the offense. It didn’t look good for Beck to be returning any time in the immediate future.

Stockton has only attempted 51 passes in the last two seasons but he has completed 72.5% of his passes. Top receiver Arian Smith is one of nine Bulldogs with at least one 30-yard catch this season and he will be one of the top college football playoff prop bets among the Georgia players.
Stockton was the No. 7-rated quarterback in his recruiting class so it is not like the Bulldogs would turn to a walk-on if Beck is sidelined.
Indiana and Notre Dame will have to battle it out to face a rested Georgia team so time will tell how much of an advantage that is for the Bulldogs. For those who bet online, keep in mind that if Georgia gets to the title game, it will be a short trip with the CFP final being played at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
