The new-look SEC makes it even harder for Southeastern squads to make a trip to Atlanta for a chance to win the conference crown. Yes, Texas and Oklahoma fans are now doing S-E-C chants, but if there is any good news for teams it is that Nick Saban no longer resides on the Bama sideline. It’s still almost shocking to see Alabama fourth in our NCAA football odds to win the SEC at +700.

The Crimson Tide typically have shorter odds to win the college football national championship itself.

Georgia (+200) and Texas (+300) are the conference favorites for good reason. The Dawgs return Carson Beck as Kirby Smart’s elite recruiting continues to reload the talent lost to the NFL.

For the Longhorns, there are more question marks despite QB1 Quinn Ewers still wearing burnt orange. The Big 12 schedule was not exactly full of cupcakes, but Texas should be tested even more in the SEC.

I already covered my favorite teams to bet on in Week 1, but for now, let’s focus on the underdogs who can unseat those Dawgs and Longhorns to win the SEC.

Bama and LSU Offer Good Value

It is not fair to call Bama (+700) or LSU (+950) underdogs but the two perennial SEC contenders offer good value at BetUS sportsbook. You should be concerned about the Crimson Tide not just because of Saban’s departure but because a good portion of their roster hitting either the portal or NFL. We might need to keep our eyes on Roll Tide Willie.

Yet, when was the last time Bama offered this sort of ROI? All Kalen DeBoer does is win everywhere he goes.

As for the Tigers, we are not holding Brian Kelly’s poor imitation of a southern accent against the Tigers. The major question is how Garrett Nussmeier is able to replace Jayden Daniels at quarterback.

Texas A&M Lurks as Dark Horse Pick

Okay, you came here for underdogs and perhaps the return on Bama or LSU is not enough. Let’s take a look further down the chart at Texas A&M at +1800 betting odds.

The argument for the Aggies starts with getting a functioning football coach in Mike Elko without all the drama. Secondly, TAMU has a manageable schedule if the team is able to overcome a few key matchups.

LSU and Texas pose real challenges, but the rest of the Aggies’ SEC schedule features winnable games. Quarterback Conner Weigman combined with Elko should have you bullish on Texas A&M.

Auburn a Sleeper to Watch at +5000 Odds

There are plenty of reasons why Auburn could stumble this season. Yet, Hugh Freeze proved capable of an SEC rebuild already before his tenure at Ole Miss ended super awkwardly.

The main challenge for Auburn is they face both Georgia and Auburn. Yet, if the Tigers can win one of these two matchups the rest of their SEC schedule does not have the same roadblocks.
