1. Colorado 7-Point Favorite vs North Dakota in Week 1

There’s no cupcakes for Colorado to start off the season as the Buffs take on North Dakota State in Week 1. So, we’re getting the Buffaloes versus the Bison in the season opener.

NDSU has been an FCS powerhouse, so it’s no surprise that sportsbooks have Colorado as just a 7-point favorite despite the Bison being in a lower division. If college football had relegation like the English Premier League, North Dakota State would already have been moved up.

I still like Coach Prime to start off the season with a win here while covering the spread.

2. Colorado Schedule Not Doing Coach Prime Any Favors

I am somewhat bullish on Colorado this season, but it is hard to look at the team’s schedule and spot easy wins. Our BetUS sportsbook has Colorado’s win total set at 5 1⁄2, which seems easily attainable until you look at the upcoming matchups.

Just like last season, the Buffs have a chance to make some progress in reaching that total with a strong September. There’s a chance Colorado will be favored in their first four games: NDSU, at Nebraska, at Colorado State and Baylor.

None of these will be automatic wins, and the Cornhuskers will be a hard test with Nebraska adding freshman phenom quarterback Dylan Raiola. Colorado’s remaining schedule includes five Big 12 teams who are ranked in the preseason polls. This is in addition to a road game in Orlando to take on UCF.

I’m inclined to think Colorado can just reach the 6-win mark but this bet is a stay away for me given the challenging schedule.

3. A $10 Bet on Colorado to Win Natty Could Land You $1,500

The Colorado futures odds market is really where things get interesting. The Buffs sit at +15000 to win the national championship.

This means if Coach Prime’s squad somehow goes on a magical run, a $10 bet nets you $1,500. So, if you want to buy a new boat, maybe throw some money on the Sanders family to do the unthinkable.

Colorado also offers solid value to win a wide-open Big 12 at +2400. As the NCAA football odds indicate, the Buffs are unlikely to make this happen.
