Let’s tap in to explore the best college football underdogs in Week 1 on Aug. 31.
3 College Football Dogs to Love Plus 1 to Fade
1. Georgia State (+20½) at Georgia Tech
This is the biggest battle for the ATL since Outkast faced Ludacris in the Atlanta rappers bracket. Okay, not really, but this is still an interesting game for the two Atlanta-based schools.

Georgia State will have plenty of fans in attendance for this primetime matchup down the road at Georgia Tech. Here we go with the annual question: Are we sure Georgia Tech is good?
To make the plot even more compelling, projected Georgia State starting quarterback Zach Gibson transferred from Georgia Tech. Look for the Panthers to keep this one closer than the 20½-point spread at the sportsbook.
2. Florida (+2½) vs Miami
Who doesn’t love a good home dog to kick off college football? The pressure is on head coach Billy Napier in Gainesville and the Gators’ schedule does not do him any favors.
Yet, new Miami quarterback Cam Ward could be in for a rude awakening at the Swamp in his Hurricanes debut. Given Florida’s schedule, I think we start to hear rumblings about Napier being on the hot seat just in time for the holiday season.
Napier should buy himself a bit more wiggle room with a mild upset versus Miami.

3. Hawaii (+13) vs UCLA
It would not be Week 1 without some late-night weirdness happening in Hawaii. How bad is the situation at UCLA?
Chip Kelly took a demotion from Bruins head coach to Ohio State offensive coordinator. The UCLA defense has plenty of holes that Hawaii can take advantage of in this matchup. Look for this game to be close when you see it come across the ticker.
Chip Kelly said it would’ve taken something special to leave UCLA.
Ryan Day and these players at Ohio State were enough to convince him:

Virginia Tech (-13½) at Vanderbilt
Another season means another year where Vandy struggles at the bottom of the SEC. The ACC appears to be wide open outside of the Florida State Seminoles being a heavy favorite.
Virginia Tech has a chance to contend in the ACC and needs to make a statement in its opening game. What better way for the Hokies to do that than with a blowout win in Nashville. Take Virginia Tech to cover the 13½-point spread in the NCAA football odds.
